The Office of Access and Transitions is the home of diverse cohort programs (Denver Promise, VIP, 1GENU and E-STEM) for students of color and students from underserved communities, as well as first generation students, participating in the cohort programs, designed to retain students through providing resources, programs and workshops, mentoring and professional development. Each program cultivates a diverse and vibrant community dedicated to program participants success at University of Denver.

Position Summary

This position serves to provide administrative support, program development, coordination and curriculum support to the undergraduate Access and Transitions programs l, including 1GENU, Equity in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (E-STEM), and Volunteers in Partnership, with particular attention to assisting with coordinating the Denver Promise Program. The position reports to the Interim Senior Director for Office of Access and Transitions (A+T). 

This is a temporary, benefited position that is funded through June 30, 2023.

Essential Functions

Co-curricular program management

  • Collaboratively develop, plan, coordinate, advise and implement community events/workshops, graduation celebration, pre-orientation, retreats and speakers, and student development opportunities for all-Access and Transitions programs.
  • Develop, advise and supervise Resident Advisors for co-curricular Access and Transitions floor.
  • Assist with DACA and Undocumented student support.
  • Assist with data collection on the programs and students the Access and Transitions area serves as well as data on national trends.
  • Collaboratively develop, plan, coordinate and implement programming visions with the Denver Promise remaining cohorts.
  • Assist with Denver Promise, Equity in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (E-STEM), 1GENU and Volunteers in Partnership (VIP), BW-LEAD, BMIS and Sistah Network programming as needed.

Office Management

  • Assist with P-Card Package Submission for Access and Transitions Staff members.
  • Develop and maintain communication processes with students, faculty, parents, alumni and other friends of the programs.
  • Maintain and update website and collateral communication pieces.
  • Provide administrative assistance to assigned Faculty Directors, faculty and adjunct professors.
  • Communicate with university and outside vendors and organizations as necessary for programming.
  • Manage Access and Transitions office operations and front desk management including student staff scheduling.
  • Train and supervise 10 - 15 student worker covering the front desk functions.
  • Coordinate marketing, recruitment, selection and student retention of assigned LLC programs.
  • Coordinate calendar for Access and Transition events and manage office email.

Collaboration

  • This position requires interaction with a number of departments and committees throughout the University. It will include collaboration with co-workers to accomplish overall vision and goals of the Access and Transitions.
  • Coordinate with relevant academic departments related to the Access and Transitions programs themes, such as RSECS and CNMS.
  • Collaborate with non-academic departments and committees such as HRE, Student Life and Student Advising.
  • Support Access and Transition Programs with logistics and coordinating various individual programs.
  • Other duties as assigned. In partnership with supervisor, determine additional duties including with university, divisional, and area committees.

  • Ability to work with internal and external constituents in a professional, confidential, friendly and responsive manner via phone, email, face-to-face meetings and video conferencing.

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to coordinate several tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Ability to stay current on the variety and trends of digital platforms, cloud-based utilities and social media.
  • Possess a high degree of integrity with a strong ability to maintain confidentiality and behave in an ethical manner.
  • Familiarity with web-based data management and modern office practices and procedures.
  • Capacity to be flexible and creative in a dynamic and fun environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook) Zoom, and Qualtrics. Banner, Slate, Concur, Qualtrics, 25 Live, Crimson Connect would be a plus.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 2 years of relevant administrative and customer service experience.
  • Demonstrative commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. 
  • Experience maintaining detailed and confidential records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of academic/higher education experience.
  • Experience with digital communication.
  • Knowledge of the student development and culture change theories.
  • Experience working with first-generation, minoritized, and other underrepresented college students.
  • Bilingual - Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with college access and success programs.
  • Certification, training or degree in a military setting.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 7.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $44,000 - $49,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
