Position Summary 

The Department invites applications for a non-tenure track full-time Teaching Assistant Professor / Teaching Associate Professor position for the academic year 2022-2023 beginning September 1, 2022. The individual hired in this position will be responsible for teaching introductory and higher-level undergraduate courses, and possibly graduate courses, in the areas of electrical and computer engineering. Duties include six courses per year plus service. 

The appointment is initially a one-year contract, renewable up to an additional two years based on satisfactory performance. A second three-year contract may be awarded following a formal performance review.

Faculty members are expected to participate in faculty meetings and engage in service activities. Working effectively and collegially with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and/or community members is an integral part of the job responsibility. This position is not required to perform research.

Candidates with less than 5 years of teaching experience will be considered for the Teaching Assistant Position and candidates with 5 or more years of teaching experience will be considered for the Teaching Associate Position.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience in teaching classes in the field of Computer Engineering: Digital Design, Digital Communications, Microprocessors, Embedded Systems Design, Matlab, Intro to DSP, Principles of Communications, Capstone or Senior Design OR experience in teaching classes in the field of Electrical Engineering: Engineering Electromagnetics, Signals and Systems, Photonics, Matlab, Intro to Power Electronics, Instrumentation and Data Acquisition, Mechatronics, Advanced Electronics, Capstone or Senior Design.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related disciplines is required by time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • ABET experience.

Salary Range: 

Assistant Level: $75,000-$78,000 , Associate Level: $79,000-$85,000.

The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
