Reporting to the Director of Budget and Planning, the Grant Administrator position will work in coordination with the Senior Grant Administrator and share responsibilities including work for specific Institutes or new grants, as well as serve as a departmental liaison between the Office of Sponsored Programs at DU and the faculty principal investigators of the Graduate School of Social Work. The individual in this position provides pre-award administrative and budget support in the preparation and submission of research grant proposals to ORSP and provides post-award administrative financial support for funded projects. The Grant Administrator must maintain a strong working knowledge of both internal policies and procedures as well as policies and procedures for common funding sources and federal grant submissions and must be able to work collaboratively with principal investigators on creation, analysis and management of project budgets. The Grant Administrator advises PIs on university policies and processes related to research personnel, records, and financial transactions; and manages the transactional responsibilities for those areas. This position is part of the Business Operations Office at the Graduate School of Social Work.
- Assists faculty with development of proposal and application materials, including development of grant and project budgets.
- Advises faculty on university process related to grant submission, research personnel, and financial transactions.
- Maintains knowledge of and advises faculty on guidelines and requirements for submission to federal funding sources, and research guidelines for other likely funding sources.
- Facilitates the creation of the proposal record in the university's Pioneer eRA system and follows the record through the approval queue to assure IDC waiver and final proposal document approvals are complete prior to submittal. The grant administrator works closely with Associate Dean for Research to ensure IDC, cost-share, course buyout, grant pay, space requirements or other impacts are understood and can be accommodated.
- Develop or source resources to assist faculty with development of successful proposals.
- Manage all assigned grant or project related personnel actions including searches, hiring, payroll and separations.
- Manage all assigned grant or project related financial transactions including direct pays, POs and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with university and sponsoring agency policies and reporting for grant accounting including grant timesheet completion, effort certifications, supporting documentation for financial transactions, incentives records (held by PI) and document retention & destruction terms.
- Provide budget review and analysis to PIs and collaborate on necessary budget modifications.
- Provide expense forecasting over the life of the project to assure proposed research objectives can be obtained within the budgeted award dollars and period of performance.
- Reconcile financial system to assure monthly expenses are appropriate to the project and tie to Banner financials.
- Develop detailed plans for research faculty & staff with mixed funding to ensure salary coverage.
- Collaborate with the Director of Budget and Planning and the Director of Operations on research operations support needs such as space allocation and infrastructure, based on anticipated needs for funded research.

- Demonstrated commitment, knowledge and ability to effectively engage individuals from broadly diverse communities
- Ability to budget and forecast to end of grant period
- Bachelor's degree and 3 years grant related experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and 5-8 years grant related experience, including experience with NIH and other federal agencies

The salary grade for the position is 10.
The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $65,000.
