The Health & Counseling Center (HCC) is an on-campus facility that provides a wide range of on-site medical and mental health services. Physicians, nurses, psychologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other professionals staff the HCC. All students enrolled for academic credit (full-time or part-time, undergraduate or graduate) may use the HCC. This position works in the Department of Health Promotion at the HCC.
The Department of Health Promotion cultivates a thriving DU community through education, engagement, and sociocultural change. Health Promotion provides outreach, workshops, and resources to help DU students make success-oriented decisions related to alcohol and other drugs, mental health, gender violence, sexual health, and other aspects of wellbeing. The Health Promotion team includes professionals, graduate fellows, and undergraduate peer educators. Coordinator of Health Promotion Gender Violence and Sexual Health works as part of the HCC Health Promotion team and is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating high quality campus health promotion initiatives that meet the needs of the diverse University of Denver student community.
The Coordinator of Health Promotion Gender Violence and Sexual Health is specifically responsible for overseeing all aspects of Health Promotions gender violence prevention education, bystander intervention, and sexual health programs.
The position serves as the liaison between Health Promotion and the Center for Advocacy, Prevention, and Empowerment (CAPE) as well as the Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX (EOIX). In this capacity, the role participates in various committees and meetings to keep the pulse on trends that inform data-driven programming.
Additionally, this position is equally responsible for creating and fostering positive collaborative relationships with various offices across campus to bring a true multidisciplinary approach to the work.
Program Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation
- Develop, implement, and evaluate health promotion programs, educational materials, and social marketing campaigns to address health and wellness topics including, but not limited to, gender violence (e.g., SAAM, DVAM, etc.), sexual health (e.g., Love, Sex Health Week, etc.), and bystander intervention.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate various prevention education training modules using a variety of media platforms (e.g., EverFi/Vector, Canvas, etc.).
- Integrate principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all initiatives.
- Incorporate needs assessment data and best practices into programming and consistently makes programmatic changes based on student and general campus environmental need.
- Develop and utilize learning outcomes, outcome measures, and evaluation procedures for all programs delivered.
- Closely collaborates with other coordinator positions within the Department of Health Promotion.
- Initiate campus and community partnerships to expand the scope and impact of gender-based violence prevention education as well as sexual health.
- Provide health promotion workshops, outreach, and consultations to faculty, staff, and student groups.
- Represent the Health and Counseling Center and the Department of Health Promotion on campus and community coalitions as assigned.
- Identifies and collaborates with campus and community partners to develop a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to gender-based violence and sexual health education and programming.
Student Leadership Development
- Hire, train, and supervise graduate students.
- Lead knowledge and skill development for undergraduate peer educators.
- Collaborate with undergraduate peer educators and other student leaders on various health promotion initiatives.
Other Duties As Assigned
- This position is housed in Health Promotion and reports directly to the Director of Health Promotion. This is a full-time, benefited position. It requires periodic evening and weekend hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- This position requires sophisticated written and verbal communication skills, and involves meetings with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners. This position also involves writing educational content, memos, and reports.
- A basic understanding of math is required. The ability to be given a budget and stay within it is essential. Expertise in quantitative and qualitative data analysis is strongly preferred.
- Able to concentrate on fine details with constant interruption. Able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others for a long period of time.

- Two or more years of relevant experience in public health, higher education, social work, counseling, or related field.
- One year of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating community health promotion programs.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Masters degree in in public health, higher education, social work, counseling, or related field.
- Two or more years of full-time, post Bachelors experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating community health promotion programs.
- Experience in a higher education setting.
Typically M-F 8am-5pm, with frequent evening and weekend work during the academic year.

The salary grade for the position is 9.
The salary range for this position is $55,000-$60,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
