The Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) at DU was created in 1976 to house one of the first Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) programs in the country, under the then-new Vail training model (practitioner-scholar). The PsyD program has been continuously accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1979. Furthermore, GSPP provides four master’s programs: Sport Coaching, Sport and Performance Psychology, Forensic Psychology, and International Disaster Psychology: Trauma and Global Mental Health, as well as online certificates and continuing education. We also offer several fully online graduate certificates in sport, strength and conditioning, and fitness coaching. As of fall 2021, we’ve launched a new undergraduate minor in Kinesiology and Sport Studies, with plans for continued growth in students and degree offerings.

Position Summary

GSPP seeks a half-time, benefited, Marketing and Enrollment Coordinator/Manager to support our online sport programs and certificates. This role will serve as the primary point of contact throughout a student’s lifecycle (lead generation through credential completion and alumni engagement). This role is responsible for meeting enrollment goals by developing, planning, executing, and managing student recruitment activities, including marketing, recruitment events, and engagement with external and community organizations. The position is also responsible for meeting student retention benchmarks by pro-actively providing superior, student-centered tracking and engagement related to students’ academic planning and progress. This position will also provide administrative and operational support related to program requirements, including student records and contract management. This is a half-time, benefited role that reports to the Director of the MA in Sport Coaching with a dotted line to the Director of Enrollment and to the Student Services Administrator. Given the online nature of these programs, this position may be considered for fully remote work.

Essential Functions

Marketing and Student Recruitment 

  • Develop and implement a marketing and student recruitment plan to meet or exceed term and annual recruitment goals.
  • Produce regular, excellent communications across multiple platforms for prospective students, including website, social media, webinars, and admissions software (Slate).
  • Determine and understand prospective student needs, educational and career interests/goals, other germane information, and offer compelling connections between those goals and enrollment in online sport programs.
  • Develop reports and monitor data to track recruitment performance and enhance recruitment strategies (e.g. yield management, forecasting, etc.) in assigned programs.
  • Collaborate with appropriate academic director to develop, execute, and assess an annual recruitment-event plan that maximizes prospective student interest and inquiries for assigned programs, including professional/industry meetings and events, etc.
  • Effectively and professionally represent GSPP at events and, as needed, transport, set-up, and dismantle recruitment booth solutions.
  • Maintain alumni and community mailing lists and collaborate with the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement to cultivate effective alumni relationships in order to promote student recruitment.
  • Work with various vendors to order swag and other recruitment materials, such as table top displays and banners.

Student Retention and Success 

  • Meet or exceed student persistence, retention, and enrollment benchmarks by developing and implementing a student retention plan, closely monitoring plan performance, pro-actively implementing adjustments when necessary, and reporting outcomes.
  • As part of the retention plan, develop and implement regular communications with students including managing mailing lists and sending regular updates around advising and scheduling.
  • Support student academic achievement and enrollment persistence and retention from admission through credential completion.
  • Develop and/or maintain tracking system and databases such as Banner (DU’s Student Information System) as needed to record student progress, changes to degree plans, course of study, leaves of absence, etc.
  • Pro-actively build and maintain strong relationships with all active (current and stopped-out) students in assigned programs to ensure successful completion of their programs.
  • Ensure sufficient tracking and documentation of student progress to ensure retention and to provide necessary records and data for DU purposes, including tuition forecasting, practicum reports, and certification for graduation.
  • Effectively lead and manage routine, core functions of student retention, including assisting in the development (and subsequent approval of) degree plans and monitoring and managing of course enrollments.
  • Ensure students are aware of graduation procedures and policies, all academic requirements are met, and graduation reviews and certifications are complete.
  • Design, contribute to, and update materials to promote student success, such as orientation courses, program Handbooks, Bulletin updates, and course plans.
  • Answer questions and problem-solve with students to ensure student retention and success, including maintaining knowledge of DU resources and policies that affect students, such as registration, international students, the writing center, career services, and financial aid.

Other Duties 

  • Provide logistical and administrative support for components of the program critical to student success, such as managing contracts for mentors and assigning mentors to new students.
  • Actively engage in process improvement to improve the student experience.
  • Attend program meetings with faculty and students.
  • Participate as member of staff teams and relevant committees to engage in cross-training to promote sustainability and consistency
  • Adapt to change and engage in learning and growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of adult learning styles and preferences, of graduate/continuing professional education, organizational culture of colleges and universities, and appreciation for academic policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to write effective student recruitment correspondence and internal communication, and effectively present information in informal and public (including large group) settings.
  • Skilled in using computer/technological solutions, including Microsoft Office suite, customer relationship management software, databases, and Zoom.
  • Ability to create and manage effective marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to maintain FERPA and follow other DU and GSPP Policies.
  • Ability to be flexible to work with multiple stakeholders in non-hierarchical teams
  • Ability to engage in occasional out-of-town travel, able to transport short distances up to 95 lbs., and set-up and dismantle large recruitment booths.
  • Must have access to a car and a clean driving record.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of work experience that is directly related to the essential job functions
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of work experience that is directly related to the essential job functions
  • Master’s degree or comparable education and experience
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the fields of sport and/or psychology
  • Experience providing customer service
  • Experience with record keeping

Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule
This is a half-time, benefited position expected to work 20 hours per week. Work schedule is to be determined. Due to nature of online student engagement and recruitment events, some evening or weekend hours may be required. Travel to recruitment events is expected to be less than 10%.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 8.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $25.50-$29.60.
