The English Language Center (ELC), located on the campus of the University of Denver, is an English language program offering a variety of curricular programs for international students. The ELC has been preparing students to be successful members of the University of Denver and other U.S. institutions of higher education for over 40 years. With the benefits of a major metropolitan area and easy access to the outdoor adventures of the Rocky Mountains, the ELC offers students a unique, supportive, and immersive educational experience.

Position Summary

The Program Manager is responsible for developing and coordinating special curricular programs for the ELC, including short-term and customized Learn English at DU programs, Au Pair courses, and online curricular offerings. The position will collaborate regularly with ELC faculty, staff and administrators as well as campus and community stakeholders.

Essential Functions

  • Developing and coordinating short-term and customized Learn English at DU (LEADU) programs
  • Developing and coordinating Au Pair courses
  • Developing and coordinating online curricular offerings
  • Hiring, training and supervising adjunct instructors for LEADU, Au Pair, and Online programs
  • Building courses and managing applications and student data in the Elevate CRM
  • Assisting with developing and maintaining strategic partnerships for special programs
  • Teaching courses in special programs as needed
  • Hiring, developing and supervising student worker positions as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability and the initiative to work independently and creatively with minimal supervision in a team setting in a seasonally busy and time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong interpersonal/intercultural communication skills, flexible work style, strong grammar, writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to work with international students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated compassion and understanding of the challenges faced by international students.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of constituents and stakeholders, both on and off campus.
  • Strong computer literacy and social media skills.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks/demands and meet deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • MA TESL/TESOL/TEFL -or- Masters/Doctorate in related field with documented course work for credit in the areas of linguistics, culture and society, educational foundations, second-language pedagogy, second-language assessment, and language teaching practicum
  • At least 3 years teaching experience in an English language program
  • Experience with assessment, curriculum, materials, and programming development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience using Banner, Elevate, Slate or equivalent systems
  • Proficient in or previous formal study of a second language
  • At least 1 year supervising others

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, with weekends and evenings as required.
