The University of Denver is seeking an experienced, talented and ambitious Events Manager for a full-time position in the Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) at the Daniels College of Business. This is a terrific opportunity to join a dynamic team that is responsible for the brand development, internal and external communications, enrollment marketing, and major events for the College. The Manager will report directly to the Assistant Director, Events, and will work closely with the rest of the OCM staff and other operating groups within the College to orchestrate best-in-class College events throughout the academic year.

Essential Functions

The Events Manager will have primary responsibility for organizing events for the Graduate Admissions team. In conjunction with the overarching events strategy laid out by the Assistant Director, the manager will execute a variety of events for the College.

This position would also manage the events submission and management process, as well as event email communications, assisting with the building of emails and registration pages for the events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Significant event planning experience (with established vendor contacts) including venue and food selection and contracting, organization of venue staff, organization of faculty/staff assistance, and gifts.
  • Proven ability to analyze event expenditures to ensure all event operations are within budget. 
  • Significant knowledge of how to market and promote events across email, social media, print collateral and other channels to drive both quantity and significance of audience.
  • Strong understanding of what makes a successful event, especially for a university.
  • Proven ability to work with independence, prioritize assignments, and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to foster and maintain effective relationships across the College, including interacting with and managing diverse groups having competing interests and priorities.
  • Ability to keep colleagues informed of workflow and delivery expectations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Three years of experience in an events management role, or in working to plan and execute signature events.
  • Proven ability to analyze event expenditures to ensure all event operations are within budget. 
  • Experience evaluating and working with third-party vendors and internal resources.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five-plus years of experience in an events manager role for a significant business.
  • Events experience with admissions events.
  • Experience planning events in higher education.
  • Event email and registration skills, specifically with iModules or Slate.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Weekend and evening hours possible

Salary Range:
