The University of Denver is pleased to announce the search for a Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor, Quantitative Methods at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, which includes the Scrivner Institute of Public Policy. The Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver is an interdisciplinary professional school of international studies that prepares students for careers in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Position Summary

The Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor, Quantitative Methods at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies is responsible for teaching four ten-week graduate-level courses per year. These courses are typically introductory statistics courses but there will also be an opportunity to develop and teach in an area of expertise and interest such as survey analysis, data visualization, GIS etc.

The Josef Korbel School of International Studies will hire a Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor for appointment to begin as soon as September 1, 2020. This is a non-tenure track position with full benefits and a 9-month contract. The position may be renewed. The successful candidate will contribute to diversity and Inclusive Excellence through their teaching and service.

Essential Functions

  • Teach four ten-week introductory graduate-level quantitative methods courses using Stata.
  • Work under the direction of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and consult with the Quantitative Methods Coordinator at Korbel to ensure that the quantitative methods training is consistent across sections of the same course.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Active scholarship that relates directly to ones teaching is encouraged but not required.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Statistics, International Studies or a related field.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence, preferably in quantitative methods at the graduate level.
  • Experience in statistical analysis using Stata.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Statistics, International Studies or a related field.
  • Experience with hybrid and online teaching.
  • Experience in statistical analysis using R, Python and/or SAS.
  • Demonstrated experience in active support of diversity and inclusiveness.

Salary Range
Salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
