Ricks Center for Gifted Children at the University of Denver is an exemplary school serving the needs of gifted children since 1984. We provide nationally recognized gifted education to approximately 250 students ranging from three years of age through eighth grade, who demonstrate exceptional, differentiated abilities and learning needs.
Located on the campus of the University of Denver, the Ricks Center offers a progressive model of education focused on developing the intellectual, social, emotional, creative and physical needs of the gifted child. The Ricks Center invites applications for a full time Middle School (sixth through eighth grade) History Teacher. We seek a candidate with expertise in History, Integrated Studies and the developing adolescent. We desire a candidate who is adept at working with a diverse group of gifted students with varying abilities requiring differentiation, individualized instruction and content acceleration, and strong social emotional leadership. This position requires a dynamic individual who models a passion for and expertise in History. We seek a candidate with expertise in current trends in middle school instruction, and content integration.
The responsibilities of this position include: teaching multiple History classes; assessing student development and performance; creation of high level curriculum; supporting the school mission through the active involvement in the school community; team teaching across content areas; interaction and involvement with parents, and other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or related field.
- Valid teaching certificate/license, special license, or licensable.
- Experience with Middle School students.
- Experience teaching gifted children.
- Graduate hours in education of the gifted.
