Position Summary

The Academic Data and Quality Specialist is part of a team that plays a central role in advancing University College's mission to provide rigorous and engaging learning experiences by engaging in and providing strategic insight for faculty support and development, course optimization, and quality assurance in course delivery. The Academic Data and Quality Specialist position provides support and quality assurance with regard to the Colleges academic courses and programs. The position monitors on-campus and online course execution and delivery to ensure the quality of the educational experience for students and faculty of University College. The Academic Data and Quality Specialist will engage in duties related to academic program support, instructor performance and activity, and tracking analytics. The position reports to the Assistant Dean of Academic Operations and provides data to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Assistant Dean for Academic Operations, and LX Team as to the ongoing quality of course delivery. University College is seeking a team member who is conscientious, driven, and highly detail-oriented, as well as someone who can connect the daily tasks of this job with the larger mission of University College. This position will be working remotely until deemed safe to return to campus. 

Essential Functions

Academic Director Support

  • Operationalize and implement tracking system related to University College Faculty Teaching Expectations, including tracking required synchronous opportunities, adherence to Turabian formatting, and use of grading rubrics.
  • Support the tracking of University College accessibility efforts within course offerings toward promoting equity in the student experience.
  • Analyze data to inform director strategy for course redesign and development at the concentration, credential, and programs level
    Summarize and report course container audit findings to directors.
  • Compile course related feedback to inform policies and procedures to ensure academic rigor in our courses.

Enrollment Management, Student Services, and Academic Operations Team Support

  • Function as a liaison for University College teams to aggregate data related to student experience feedback. 
  • Gather data proactively to systematically anticipate student challenges related to course experience.
  • Implement forward-facing database solutions for the University College to help track faculty data and support academic operations.
  • Collect and integrate data related to course and program level assessment.

Program and Operational Support

  • Apply best practices in instructional principles to review curriculum and courses across various programs to ensure alignment with University College program content and teaching expectations.
  • Integrate, operationalize, and utilize Canvas tools and third-party plug-ins (internal and external) to build consistency across course delivery.
  • Assist with automation of current manual processes and updates to courses and systems as related to course design, curriculum tracking, and course containers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of online course delivery.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems, preferably Canvas.
  • Ability to synthesize data and information into systematic solutions for increased efficiency.
  • Data analysis and data management skills.
  • Strong organizational and/or project management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong proofreading skills.
  • Strong organizational and/or project management skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2-5 years of relevant learning and development professional experience.
  • Experience analyzing existing written materials for rigor and quality.
  • Experience working within a quality control process.
  • Experience working with data repositories (like SQL, Microsoft Access), analytics tools (like Tableau, STATA, or SAS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in development and deployment of a quality control process.
  • Advanced degree in area of higher education, educational technology, instructional technology and/or instructional design.
  • Experience within higher education.
  • Knowledge of and experience with adult learners.
  • Knowledge of the Canvas learning management system, including API and LTI Canvas integrations.
  • Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning software, such as Ellucian Banner.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Range
Salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
