Located within the Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs within the Office of the Provost, the current mission of the Office of Teaching and Learning is to improve student learning across the University by fostering innovation and strengthening practices in teaching, course design, curriculum development, and assessment. The OTL staff supports faculty by advancing skills in course design, pedagogy, and academic assessment. We seek a highly organized, self-motivated, tech-savvy, solution-oriented, and customer-focused individual to serve as a Faculty Developer of High Impact Practices and Integrative Learning. This role is part faculty development and part administrative.

Position Summary

The Faculty Developer of High Impact Practices and Integrative Learning reports to the Director of the Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL), and works collaboratively with OTL staff members and university faculty to develop and lead face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses; create and facilitate the integration of High Impact Practices (HIPS) and integrative learning programs and initiatives; consult with faculty members and departments; and contribute to the national dialogue. This is a full-time staff position.

Essential Functions

  • Create, implement, and manage a curriculum of teaching-related professional development opportunities for HIPs and Integrative Learning strategies including but not limited to: faculty learning communities, workshops, short courses, institutes, and trainings.
  • Conduct confidential and problem-solving consultations with faculty members and academic departments about teaching and learning issues, particularly as related to HIPS Integrative Learning.
  • Assist with needs assessment research to determine teaching-related needs particular to Integrative Learning and High Impact Practices across campus, including considerations of platforms to support integrative ePortfolios, and support the creation and facilitation of new programs and initiatives to meet those needs.
  • Assist faculty in transforming delivery of course-level HIPs to online or hybrid settings.
  • Collaborate with OTL staff to support office initiatives as needed.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the ePortfolio platform, learning management system, and other instructional technologies supported by the University.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the events system.
  • Assist in collecting and documenting internal assessment data.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of High Impact Practices as defined by AAC&U.
  • Conversant in best practice in online/hybrid pedagogy.
  • Strong research skills including acquiring and vetting literature related to educational research and practice.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain efficient office work flow and administrative processes.
  • Willingness to learn and support instructional technology applications.
  • Commitment to customer service.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • 2 years of progressively responsible administrative experience.
  • Experience supporting faculty with implementing High Impact Practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 or more years of administrative experience, to include experience working in a higher education institution.
  • Experience supporting instructional technologies in a higher education setting.
  • Expertise in instructional design.
  • Extensive knowledge of the use of ePortfolios.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Range
