The part-time Practicum & Internship (P&I) Coordinator works within the RMIS and CP departments with a primary focus on the online Master of Arts in School Counseling and Master of Library and Information Science programs, toward supporting the mission of each individual program. This individual is responsible for complex administrative duties collaborating with Program Leads, faculty, placement site supervisors and personnel, University constituents and other pertinent stakeholders to facilitate and promote successful placement of students for various fieldwork placement assignments (e.g., practicum; internship) associated with each program. The P & I Coordinator is responsible for all administrative functions related to placement assignments including, but not limited to student records, coordinating placement opportunities, authorization/approval paperwork, evaluations, and surveys associated with the placement process.

Position Summary

The position requires exceptional communication and organization skills. It requires the ability to build and foster relationships, to establish and maintain confidentiality, and to be a liaison with both external and internal stakeholders (e.g., placement site personnel; DU students, faculty, staff, and administration). It also requires knowledge of associated accreditation and certification/licensure policies, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities.

Essential Functions

Communication & Record Management

  • Leads annual review of forms, policies, and other documents related to the P & I experiences and makes updates to each as needed, based on decisions and/or changes in relevant policies at any level (i.e., program; College; University; State; accreditation).
  • Tracks student feedback that may inform updates to P & I policy, procedure, and/or communications.
  • Identify themes and patterns in formal and informal feedback regarding sites, students, and policy issues.
  • Point of contact for P & I related issues and stakeholders (e.g., course leads; partner placement specialist), providing clear, accurate, and timely information to constituents.
  • Coordinator of hourly logs, student P & I records, feedback from site supervisors, section instructors, and students, and other relevant documentation.
  • Supports placement site contract management as needed.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director for Accreditation toward assessment and accreditation efforts.
  • Escalates issues and concerns to Program Lead as appropriate.
  • Produces data for requests per Program Lead approval.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Clinical and Field Experiences

  • Provides broad oversight of student placements in various P & I settings.
  • Serves as liaison for Program Leads with all stakeholders regarding P & I experiences.
  • Facilitate site supervisor onboarding and training processes.
  • Placement approvals.
  • Monitors placement pacing process (e.g., who has sites, who doesnt; who has issues or needs special attention; has all paperwork been received as appropriate).
  • Manage escalations and feedback from section instructors and placement specialists.
  • Manages program efforts toward community building and professional development among site supervisors.
  • Escalates issues and concerns to Program Lead as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience within a professional educational or training environment (e.g., P-12 school system).
  • Comfort and confidence in collaboration with professionals outside of own discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience working as a part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and comfort with technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 1+ years experience in a similar role in an educational setting.
  • Experience working with stakeholders at all levels of an organization/institution.
  • Experience in/understanding of higher education.
  • Experience/familiarity with Banner or other student information system.
  • Familiarity with clinical experience in higher education.
  • Experience in a direct support relationship in an institution of higher education or similar type organization.
  • Familiarity with educational requirements related to School Counseling and/or Library and Information Science. 

Work Schedule
Part-time, 20 hours per week. Ideally, the individual will work Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. There is some flexibility with the hours.
