Position Summary

The Department of Communication Studies invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track appointments to start in September 2021.

Position 1: We seek a teacher-scholar in communication and public health and/or public engagement (including, but not limited to, research interests in health disparities; narrative approaches to health; public health controversies; equity issues in public health/expression; doctor-patient communication; or public wellness) whose work builds upon the current commitments of the program: diversity, equity, and inclusion; community engagement; critical thinking; mentoring and working closely with students; and advancing the public good through research, teaching, and service. This faculty member would teach undergraduate courses related to public health and/or public engagement as well as other undergraduate courses related to their expertise. 

Position 2: We seek a teacher-scholar in organizational communication (including, but not limited to, research interests in communication in nonprofit organizations; organizational dissent; accessibility in organizations; diversity, equity, and inclusion in organizations; work-life issues; or organizational socialization) whose work builds upon the current commitments of the program: diversity, equity, and inclusion; community engagement; critical thinking; mentoring and working closely with students; and advancing the public good through research, teaching, and service. This faculty member would teach undergraduate courses related to organizational communication and quantitative research methods as well as other undergraduate courses related to their expertise. This faculty member should also have expertise and interest in developing and directing a departmental internship program.

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to diversity, equity and inclusion through their teaching, research and service.

Required Qualifications

  • ABD in Communication Studies. ABD candidates will hold the title and rank of instructor until the degree is complete.
  • Publications and research agenda in communication studies.
  • Excellent university level teaching experience in communication studies.
  • Demonstrated or potential for service to academic institutions, the discipline, and the community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Communication Studies.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $73,000/annually. 

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
