Position Summary

The Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management at Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver is looking to hire industry professionals for the Spring 2021 quarter to teach a variety of undergraduate courses, such as Introduction to Hospitality Management, Sales and Marketing, Special Event Management, Beverage Management, Advanced Beverage Management, Wines of the World, Managing a Restaurant Business, Asset Management as well as special-topics courses. More information about the course can be found on the Registrar’s Office schedule of classes at This posting will serve for multiple openings.

Essential Functions

Industry professionals are required to teach twice a week, hold office hours, assign papers and exams as appropriate and be available to assist students with assignments. The University operates on a quarter system.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach at the university level. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D.
  • College-level teaching experience.

Course Rate

Industry professionals are compensated at a rate of $1,037.50 per credit hour.

Labs are compensated at $1,000 per course if one lab is required or $750 per course if two labs are required.

Alcohol and Food Safety portions of Managing a Restaurant Business are compensated at $500 each.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
