Position Summary

The MBA@Denver at Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver is looking to hire adjunct instructors for Spring Quarter 2021 and academic year 2021-2022 to teach a variety of 10-week online graduate courses, such as Financial Accounting & Reporting, Leading with Integrity, Managerial Finance, Managerial Economics, Strategic Management, Marketing Concepts, as well as numerous special-topics courses. This posting will be used to fill openings for both Section Leads and Course Leads.

This posting is for the following quarters:

Spring Quarter 2021 runs March 31, 2021 through June 8, 2021 with grades due June 15, 2021.

Summer Quarter 2021 runs June 14, 2021 through August 20, 2021 with grades due August 26, 2021.

Fall Quarter 2021 runs September 13, 2021 through November 19, 2021 with grades due November 26, 2021.

Winter Quarter 2022 runs January 3, 2022 through March 14, 2022 with grades due March 22, 2022.

Spring Quarter 2022 runs March 28, 2022 through June 4, 2022 with grades due June 11, 2022

Essential Functions

Section Lead duties include:

  • attend individual and group trainings prior to the beginning of the course;
  • attend regular faculty meetings within the course to share best practices and focus on course objectives for the week’s class;
  • complete all required faculty onboarding processes and assessments;
  • attend and lead weekly 90-minute virtual class meetings on Zoom;
  • grade assignments in a timely manner and maintain regular office hours;
  • maintain reliable access to the learning management system (e.g., meeting technical specifications and wired high-speed internet access);
  • participate in informational and recruiting events as needed;
  • submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations and deadlines.

Course Leads duties include:

  • The course lead designs and oversees a 10-week online course that consists of asynchronous material as well as synchronous, 90-minute sessions each taught by a section lead;
  • develops the course syllabus, selects texts, cases, readings, simulations and other course materials;
  • creates asynchronous content;
  • sets learning objectives for weekly live sessions;
  • assists in the selection and final approval of the section lead faculty;
  • serves as a section lead for at least one section during the initial offering of the course;
  • Creating grading rubrics/guidelines for section lead(s) to administer;
  • Ensuring section leads are meeting course deadlines and position responsibilities;
  • Reviewing section leads’ performance, including live sessions recordings, SET scores, etc. on a quarterly basis and discussing with each section lead;
  • Meeting weekly with section leads as soon as they are hired (10 weeks before the quarter starts) to discuss content, live session planning, strategy, technology, and expectations;
  • Addressing any concerns that the section lead(s) have on assignments, student issues, technology etc.;
  • participate in informational and recruiting events as needed;
  • Iterate course every quarter to ensure all materials as current as possible;
  • Collecting and reviewing assessment reports from section leads each quarter and submitting one report covering results for all sections.
  • complete all required faculty onboarding processes and assessments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Ability to teach at the university level 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD
  • Teaching experience at university level
  • Online teaching experience

Course Rate

Section Lead Compensation:

            Section Leads will be paid $5,000 per quarter.

Course Lead Compensation:

            Course Lead Development Pay for filming of asynchronous content - $3,750

            Course Lead Development Pay after first class is held - $3,750

            Quarterly Course Lead Pay of Active Course - $5,000

            Quarterly Course Lead Pay of “Off Quarter” Course - $4,000

            Course Coordinator (managing 3 or more Section Leads- NOT including oneself) - $4,000

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
