The Department of Religious Studies at the University of Denver is a vibrant department of eight productive, nationally recognized scholar‐teachers who have attracted a growing cadre of undergraduate majors, double majors and graduate students in the College of Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences (CAHSS). The Department of Religious Studies invites applications for an adjunct position teaching a mixed undergraduate/MA level course, RLGS 3001 Judaism, in Spring 2021. This course offers an overview of the religion, with a focus on experiential learning generally fulfilled through in-person or virtual site visits. A syllabus is on file but the successful candidate would be welcome to design a syllabus of their own. The Department is particularly interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to our College’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Teach one course in our ten-week spring quarter.
- Teach online synchronous class sessions meeting twice per week for a four credit-hour course.
- Delineate distinct readings and assignment requirements for undergraduate and MA students.
- Hold weekly office hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the field (subject matter expertise).
- Knowledge of contemporary pedagogy.
- Ability to teach effectively via Zoom.
- Ability to use Canvas.
- Ability to provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
- Commitment to utilizing and engaging a diverse range of perspectives, scholars, approaches, and resources in teaching materials and practices.
- Completed Ph.D. prior to appointment (no exceptions). Degree may be from religious studies or any relevant field with religious studies training.
- Proven record of successful teaching experience during and/or after one’s graduate training.
- Theoretical training that includes familiarity with a diverse range of theorists.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

$4,150 per course
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
