Position Summary

The Philosophy Department at the University of Denver invites applications for an adjunct position to teach an undergraduate seminar-level Metaethics course for our spring quarter.

Essential Functions

The position requires teaching and grading for one 10-week Metaethics course.  Candidate should hold  one office hour per week or otherwise, be available for student meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to teach a Metaethics course.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate should have the Ph.D. in philosophy or a related discipline at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have taught Metaethics before, though this is not necessary.

Work Schedule

The Metaethics course is a 10-week course, and meets online via Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12pm-1:50pm (MST).  The course caps at 20 students. Our spring quarter begins on Wednesday, March 31 and ends on Thursday, June 8. Grades are due Tuesday, June 15.

  3. Letter of recommendation speaking to the candidates’ ability to teach this course, although not required, is strongly recommended.

Course Rate

$4,150 per course

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
