Position Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Athletics Director Development and Strategy, this position manages the operations of the Athletics & Recreation annual fund (the Pioneers Athletic Fund) and manages an annual giving portfolio, raising funds to advance the university's fundraising priorities. The Assistant Director manages day to day operations in the areas of stewardship, engagement, prospecting, processes and game day hospitality for alumni, friends, parents, corporations and season ticket holders.

Essential Functions

  • Provide Exceptional Donor Experience: Manage day to day development operations, including stewardship and solicitation initiatives and communications, benefit fulfillment, gift processing, reporting and acknowledgement processes, game day hospitality and special events.
  • Successfully Communicate Philanthropic Mission of Denver Athletics & Recreation: Manage a donor portfolio of up to 50 annual fund prospects and responsible for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with Co-workers to Maximize Philanthropic and Revenue Opportunities: Assist with development and execution of prospecting and identification initiatives that seek to engage alumni, season ticket holders, premium seat holders, parents and corporate support. Also includes assistance with 5050 Raffle (unit-wide fundraising effort on game days).
  • Collaborate with Co-workers to Maximize Philanthropic and Revenue Opportunities: Assist with development and execution of prospecting and identification initiatives that seek to engage alumni, season ticket holders, premium seat holders, parents and corporate support. Also includes assistance with 5050 Raffle (unit-wide fundraising effort on game days).
  • Continue Tradition of Excellence Across Campus: Manage development and execution of 1Day4DU, which is the annual University giving day. This includes assisting with matching gift solicitation and management, creating marketing materials and messages, preparing data accurately and stewarding 1Day4DU donors effectively.
  • People Management: Supervise up to eight game day interns and up to three office interns.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully, both written and verbal, to a variety of University and community constituents.
  • Provide exceptional service to alumni, parents, friends and season ticket holders.
  • Strong leadership skills that focus on positivity and growth mindset.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior regarding NCAA rules as well as conference, University and Division expectations.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and good working relationship within the Division of Athletics & Recreation, Advancement and all other University units.
  • Computer skills: Paciolan, Virtual meetings (Zoom, MS Teams), Ellucian, ThankView (preferred), Photoshop/InDesign (preferred).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in fundraising.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • 3-5 years of experience in college athletics fundraising, preferably in Division I athletics.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Availability evenings, weekends and some holidays.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 8.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
