The Institute for Human-Animal Connection (IHAC) is a specialized center within the Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) at the University of Denver (DU), which intentionally elevates the value of the living world and the interrelationship and health of people, other animals, and the environment. This is accomplished through natural and social science-informed education, applied knowledge, research and advocacy, with an ethical regard for all species. Focusing on the three core areas of Therapeutic Human-Animal Interactions, Animals in Communities and One Health, IHAC operationalizes our mission through innovation in education and research.

Position Summary

The Coordinator role within the Institute for Human-Animal Connection (IHAC) supports and facilitates activities related to the IHAC Pro professional development certificate programs in addition to managing IHAC marketing and communications and providing general office management. This position has a key role in maintaining the Institute's visibility, engaging donors, students and alumni and supporting a cohesive team. The position reports to the IHAC Executive Director with task supervision from the Assistant Director for Professional Programs and the Assistant Director for Research.

The Coordinator position is gift funded and therefore will be renewed annually based on funding availability.

Essential Functions

  • Staff and student support for the IHAC Pro professional development certificates, including inquiry and student communication management, registration and payment plan assistance, scheduling and events.
  • IHAC marketing and communications, including website development, social media, internal and external written communications and representation at professional conferences and events
  • Support of hiring and management activities for a large volume of student research employees
  • IHAC general office management, including scheduling, event planning, space and inventory management and donor engagement

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, virtually and in person
  • Demonstrated computers skills and proficiency with the MS Office Suite
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Customer service orientation
  • Self-awareness and willingness to learn and improve demonstrated commitment, knowledge and ability to effectively engage individuals from broadly diverse communities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree plus one to two years of related office experience - or - equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or experience in the human-animal-environment interactions field
  • Experience with event management
  • Experience with recruitment, marketing and or website management
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Located near Denver, Colorado with ability to work on campus (currently hybrid model due to COVID - 19)

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 7.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $21.96-$24.52.
