Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Lamont School of Music, this position oversees all marketing and communication efforts by the Lamont School of Music and contributes to elevating the local, regional, and national stature of Lamont.

Essential Functions

Marketing and Promotion

  • Create original content for both digital and print channels
  • Create and manage Lamont promotional materials from design and creation through distribution and analysis
  • Develop and implement Lamont’s social media strategy
  • Promote and advertise Lamont concerts and productions
  • Work with Newman Center box office on event ticketing for Lamont concerts and events, group and special donor ticket sales
  • Coordinate public relations with the Denver press and media
  • Assist with community engagement initiatives


  • Maintain the Lamont website in coordination with the Digital Communications Manager for the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS)
  • “Tell Lamont’s story” to multiple constituencies through a variety of digital and print publications
  • Develop new community partnerships to promote Lamont events and gain increased community visibility


  • Collaborate with Lamont Admission and other programs in Lamont, Newman Center for the Performing Arts, CAHSS Department of Development, and CAHSS Marketing and Communications
  • Serve as needed for university-wide marketing and alumni events, coordinating with DU’s Division of Marketing and Communication
  • Assist CAHSS Development with planning & stewarding Lamont donor and alumni events

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Broad computer skills that include proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, content management systems, and web editing applications
  • Proficiency with social media applications and management platforms
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Write and assess publicity and marketing materials
  • Ability to multi-task, take initiative, and problem-solve
  • Ability to handle complex projects independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge or experience in music

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (marketing, communications, music, arts management, advertising)
  • 3 years experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field(s)
  • Computer skills appropriate to this position (see “Knowledge and Abilities”)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Knowledge or experience in Music 
  • 5 or more years of related experience and/or training
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations or in higher education
  • Management and supervisory experience
  • Established record of commitment to the arts

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, normally 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend hours.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 8.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $55,000-$60,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
