Position Summary

Enrollment Specialists perform a multitude of administrative and support functions requiring critical thinking, great accuracy, and attention to detail. Responsibilities include performing multiple tasks throughout the admission process for first year and transfer domestic and international undergraduate students in addition to specialized programs on campus. The workload consists of a high volume of applications and includes monitoring application requirements, performing transfer credit evaluations for all incoming students, ensuring accurate data entry in application databases, problem solving, and communicating with DU staff within the department, with on and off campus partners, and also prospective students, their families, and staff at high schools and other colleges and universities. Enrollment Specialists are frequently a student or family's first contact with the University, so exemplary customer service and oral and written communication skills are required.

Essential Functions

  • Process electronic domestic and international enrollment applications, documents, and data feeds to complete the admission application process in our Technolutions Slate CRM. 
  • Perform transfer credit evaluations for all incoming First Years and admitted Transfer students from college transcripts and AP/IB scores in DU’s Ellucian Banner SIS, and review transfer credit awarded within student Degree Audits in DegreeWorks, making updates and adjustments as necessary. 
  • Work closely with partners in the Registrar’s office to maintain, update, and clarify current and changing transfer credit evaluation policies and procedures.
  • Manage and process required materials to finalize incoming First Year and Transfer student matriculation and process deferral requests. 
  • Research/troubleshoot issues related to student applications and monitor the accuracy of applicant information to make sure it meets admission standards and university policies. 
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide incoming students with the most updated information (Registrar, Housing, Academic Advising, Orientation, Bursar, LEP, ISSS, etc.)
  • Work closely with the Undergraduate Admission Communications team by reviewing and offering editing suggestions to outbound communications.
  • Initiate outreach to prospective students, their parents, their high school counselors, and other university offices by phone, email, and occasionally in person.
  • Review and answer inquiries to the admission general email account and phone line when needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Communication skills: excellent written communication and speaking skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, university colleagues and the public over the telephone, in writing, and occasionally in person.
  • Customer service skills: ability to provide exceptional customer service to students and families who are trying to navigate the admission process.
  • Critical thinking: utilize training and constantly updated resources to determine most appropriate transfer credit equivalencies for assigned caseload.
  • Detail oriented: process-oriented thinking and ability to pay careful attention to detail.
  • Organization and time management skills: ability to juggle a wide variety of tasks and effectively prioritize responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated independent thinking and ability to work well within a team with a high level of professionalism.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Experience processing information within a CRM system.
  • Strong computer skills and data entry experience.
  • Experience working in an administrative setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of experience as a transcript evaluator, academic advisor, or other similarly related experience.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high
  • Shared space with other enrollment specialists

Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number:

The salary grade for the position is 7.

Hourly Rate:

The hourly rate for the position is $24.01.

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
