The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Denver invites applications for a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor position in our teaching professorial track (non-tenure track) for the academic year 2024-2025 beginning September 1, 2024. The position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate biology courses for non-science majors with possibility of major’s courses in area of specialization. The duties include teaching six courses per year (quarter system) plus service including advising.
Appointments at this rank will be made initially as a one-year contract renewable on a yearly basis for three years, followed by a three-year contract where renewal is contingent on formal performance review. The Teaching Professorial Series provides opportunity for promotion and advancement within the series. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching, service, and possibly research.

- Academic advising for Biology majors
- Ph.D. degree from a life science discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to teach college level biology courses.
- Experience in teaching and developing college level biology curriculum, especially for non-science majors.
- Standard office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
While the University's administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. The University's academic calendars are posted on the registrar's website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar).

The salary grade for the position is UC.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $72,000.

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
