About Annual Giving

The Annual Giving team resides under the Development team within Advancement and is responsible for filling and retaining a robust pipeline of donors. In partnership with central communication, stewardship and academic units, Annual Giving uses a multi-channel, strategically defined segmentation approach to soliciting gifts and communicating to a mass DU audience, utilizing data insights to grow and move donors along a continuum. The Annual Giving team values hard work, accountability, initiative, creativity, solution-oriented problem solving, and collaboration.

Position Summary

The University of Denver is seeking a talented professional to join our Advancement team as the Annual Giving Coordinator. The Annual Giving Coordinator is a part of the Development team within DU Advancement. Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Annual Giving, the Annual Giving Coordinator assists with building a culture of philanthropy and generosity among University of Denver students, faculty, staff, recent graduates, and alumni. This position participates in crucial project management and data analysis for a multi-channel, donor-centric communications program, including Direct Mail, E-mail, Crowdfunding and other digital strategies to achieve a shared goal of $1.56 million. This employee must be a passionate ambassador and self-motivated professional for the University of Denver who is able to innovate in the field of philanthropy.

Essential Functions

This role is primarily responsible for working in collaboration with the Associate Director of Annual Giving and other members of the Annual Giving team to direct, manage, execute, and evaluate all student philanthropy and recent graduate giving initiatives and to support all special and signature campaigns staged by the Annual Giving team. Specifically:

Administrative Support

  • Serve as Associate Director of Annual Giving’s point person for all existing and new solicitation campaigns by providing channel research as well as logistical planning to help achieve the shared goal of raising $1.56 million. This includes working with individuals and teams university-wide to facilitate logistics including but not limited to: campaign appropriate online giving tools, web resources, fund designation confirmation, appeal code requests, copyediting, creative proofing, vendor bidding, monthly reporting and data analysis, data hygiene, etc. There are at least four signature campaigns throughout the fiscal year that require this work.

DU Student Foundation Supervisor

  • Serve as Supervisor of the DU Student Foundation (DUSF). Provide leadership and guidance to two paid student employees, including but not limited to: strategic planning, event and meeting coordination, curation of educational and volunteer experiences, timekeeping, and mentorship.

Project Management

  • Lead project management for all signature campaigns and other Annual Giving special projects as assigned to ensure timely deliverables, budget adherence, and the successful launch of each campaign.

Data Analysis

  • Tracking and reporting: lead and execute monthly reporting, and other reporting by request, through accurate data collection for Annual Giving tracking purposes to measure against fiscal year goals and year-over-year progress.
  • Analysis: help make data-informed decisions around student philanthropy, young alumni giving and other Annual Giving priority audiences to advance the growth of dollars and donors raised.

Platform Maintenance

  • Manage intake and maintenance of all new and existing crowdfunding project requests, GiveCampus giving links, and maintaining the team information hub through Asana project management software and the shared file drive.

Continued Education

  • Serve as Annual Giving point person for researching and attending Annual Giving, fundraising, student employment and other industry-related trainings, webinars and conferences to ensure our team is up-to-date on the latest trends.

University Citizenship

  • Serve as an active and collaborative partner to all central and unit-based advancement functions and other campus colleagues to foster strategic, effective, and collaborative fundraising practices.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience (Veterans with equivalent combination of military certification/education and experience may substitute for the degree qualification)
  • 2 years of professional work experience in an administrative or other relevant role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education or similarly complex non-profit environment
  • Hands-on experience with student campaigns, crowdfunding, time-limited campaigns, or peer-to-peer fundraising
  • Experience working with volunteer boards or committees
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in student and/or young alumni programming
  • Annual giving experience and/or marketing experience

Working Environment

  • Standard open office environment
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate

Physical Activities

  • Ability to use a computer for an extended period
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; some nights and weekends as required. Eligible for hybrid work.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 7.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $24.50-$27.10.
