Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor (“AVC”) for Equal Opportunity & Title IX, the Case Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and tracking of harassment and discrimination reports. This includes monitoring the intake of reported violations of nondiscrimination policies, conducting initial outreach, scheduling and assisting deputy coordinators in intake interviews, as well as managing collection, input, and analysis of data in the case management system. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, multitask, take initiative, demonstrate sound judgment, and handle highly sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

The Case Manager will also assist the Director of Investigations and Resolution Services with the coordination and administration of all processes under the EOIX nondiscrimination policies and procedures and will support the AVC and Deputy Coordinators in designing and conducting trainings for the University community.

Essential Functions

The Case Manager serves as a neutral administrator to ensure a prompt response to reports of potential misconduct under the University’s Discrimination and Harassment Policy and to maintain accurate records of all EOIX matters. Specific responsibilities of the position will include:

  • Review and track all incoming reports.
  • Assist the Deputy EO and Deputy TIX Coordinators in conducting initial outreach and intake meetings with complainants and reporting parties.
  • Work with Deputy Coordinators to prepare timely and accurate preliminary assessment of reports and make recommendations to the AVC regarding EOIX scope and jurisdiction of reports.
  • Maintain case management system and recordkeeping, including case file organization, case correspondence, data tracking, pattern and trend analysis, and preparation of regular data reports.
  • Assist in coordinating and administration of informal resolutions, inquiries, and formal resolution processes, including coordinating communication and correspondence with reporting parties, complainants, respondents, witnesses, and others, as appropriate.
  • Assist in designing and facilitating training on topics related to EOIX’s mission and area of responsibility. Coordinate details (time, date, locations and EOIX presenter) and track annual trainings (completion rate for mandatory trainings and attendance for on campus).
  • Assist in responding to inquiries from members of the university community regarding matters related to university discrimination and harassment policies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret related federal and state laws regarding Title VI, VII, IX, VAWA/SaVE, ADA, ADEA, and other relevant anti-discrimination laws and regulations specific to higher education, including FERPA and the Clery Act.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed interview practices.
  • Knowledge of gender-based violence dynamics including sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking.
  • Ability to handle a significant caseload and effectively manage the pressure of multiple, competing deadlines.
  • Proficient computer skills, including use of database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications, and ability to learn and adapt to new software programs.
  • Demonstrated skill in exercising professional judgment, maintaining confidentiality, and utilizing tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive matters.
  • Strong organization, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional and trusting relationships and establish collaborative partnerships across the university.
  • Demonstrated skill in preparing concise, analytical, and cogent data reports.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organization, planning, problem-solving and reasoning skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years case management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office applications and document sharing tools.
  • Experience working in an environment of strict confidentiality with sensitive information, materials and/or client interactions.
  • Proficiency with Maxient, CaseIQ, or similar case management system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting trauma-informed interviews and facilitating informal resolutions (e.g., mediation, ombuds, restorative practice facilitation).
  • Experience in working in an institution of higher education, with strong preference for work within the context of Title IX or civil rights compliance.

Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 10.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $61,000-$71,000

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
