The College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (CAHSS) is the largest and most diverse academic unit of the University of Denver, where students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed at nearly any career in today’s globally connected society. Half of the College’s departments and schools offer master's or PhD programs. 

Position Summary

CAHSS is hiring three (3) Marketing & Communications Coordinators to support the creation and delivery of materials for marketing and event materials, including web-based content for the College's schools, departments, and programs, digital brochures, registration landing pages and department newsletters. The coordinators also will provide logistical support for the student and community programming. These positions are members of the CAHSS Marketing & Communications team and report to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The coordinators will use a variety of software platforms to draft and deliver marketing and communications content and must be adept at learning and mastering new technologies as they are adopted by DU and CAHSS.

Essential Functions

Written & Event Communications:

  • Draft and contribute to newsletters, announcements and other collateral for CAHSS departments, schools, and programs.
  • Create event materials including invitations and promotions.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and creative copy and brand-compliant, engaging front-end landing pages.
  • Work with partners across the University to develop messaging and strategy for multi-channel marketing campaigns.
  • Work with colleagues across CAHSS to continually improve workflows and processes to the benefit of the College and its departments, schools, and programs

Content Development & Social Media:

  • Assist CAHSS departments in managing their social media pages including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts.
  • Contribute written and visual content for social platforms, including occasionally attending events and capturing photos.
  • In collaboration with Marketing & Communications colleagues, research and contribute to engaging stories that drive the CAHSS narrative.

Student & Community Programming:

  • Collaborate with CAHSS department chairs and faculty to plan and deliver events in support of the departments’ efforts to provide a high-quality educational experience for students, alumni and donors.
  • Partner with Enrollment Services to deliver events targeting graduate student interest and enrollment in CAHSS programs, and support undergraduate recruitment events such as Journeys to DU and Friday@DU.
  • Partner with the alumni engagement team and CAHSS departments to support Advancement events and activities aligned to the department’s strategic communications plan.
  • Coordinate with event managers from DU’s Conference and Events Services (CES) team to help plan and deliver College-wide and CAHSS department events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Careful attention to detail and a willingness to learn AP style, and marketing best practices supporting the College’s events, programs, and initiatives. Strong proofreading ability.
  • Skilled writer for communications, marketing and social media.
  • Excellent communication (interpersonal, verbal, written) and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to quickly learn and work with new technologies.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Willingness to take initiative, keep a positive attitude, and maintain a professional demeanor. Ability to work with diverse and underrepresented populations, using an inclusive approach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity, contributing to an inclusive working, and learning environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in years of equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 1 year of marketing and communications experience.
  • 1 year of experience in developing and contributing content to social media platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a creative agency (public relations, advertising, branding agency or similar setting focused on marketing and communications strategies and programs).
  • Preference for current/prior experience in CAHSS.
  • 1 year of content management experience.
  • Experience working with Drupal CMS.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate
  • As this position will support departments across the College, individual(s) must be willing to meet with stakeholder at locations across campus.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to sit or stand in front of a room for an extended period of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Option to work remotely up to two days per week.

Salary Grade

The salary grade for this position is 7

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for this position is $24.00-$27.00

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
