The University of Denver is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Club Gymnastics Coach to lead our Club Gymnastics team. This position requires a gymnastics background. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive, disciplined, and motivating environment to help student-athletes reach their full potential.
 
This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.
 
Essential Functions
  • Enforce practice attendance and participation requirements to ensure athlete accountability and preparedness.
  • Attend all competitions, including coaching meetings, running responsibilities, and actively supporting athletes at meets.
  • Plan, structure, and organize practices to maximize efficiency, safety, and skill development.
    • Lead and initiate warm-ups, ensuring athletes arrive on time and warm up properly.
    • Ensure athletes remain engaged and practicing for the majority or entirety of each practice.
  • Spot and assist athletes in learning and progressing new gymnastics skills.
  • Provide constructive technique feedback and individualized skill critiques.
  • Foster a positive, athlete-centered environment that prioritizes enjoyment of the sport and healthy athlete-sport relationships over results, scores, or medals.
  • Treat athletes as adults and students first, respecting academic and personal responsibilities.
  • Meet athletes where they are by accommodating varying skill levels, commitments, and individual goals within the club.
  • Promote a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, accountability, and mutual respect.
  • Complete and submit bi-weekly timesheets in compliance with university policies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster team spirit motivate athletes and conflict resolution skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on the team’s training and competition schedule.
  • Knows how to balance competitiveness and wants the players to enjoy their experience on the team.
Required Qualifications
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (able to be acquired within first 30 days of employment)
  • CDC Heads Up Concussion Training Certification (able to be acquired within first 30 days of employment)
Work Schedule
  • This position will average 6-15 hrs/week.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on the team’s training and competition schedule.
  • Able to commit to traveling to away meets, 3-4 weekly practices each week in the evenings and weekends for meets.
  • Ability to coach from September to end of June (no coaching during summer or winter break).

Hourly Range

The hourly range for this position is $20.00-$25.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status
