Coach and Writing Advisor- DU Bar Success Program, Sturm College of Law in Denver, CO
Located in one of the nation’s most iconic and dynamic cities, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law has a long and distinguished tradition in experiential education. The law school features a DU Bar Success program for graduates of Denver Law to aid in bar preparation studies with numerous practice problems utilizing bar exam materials. The program features workshops, mock bar exams, individualized feedback, and coaching. We provide a team of writing advisers to provide comments for improvement (instead of feedback, we call it feedforward) on every bar essay and performance test submitted from our program. We also provide one-on-one coaching to help graduates keep on track and make the most of the learning experience. Position Description The Sturm College of Law seeks to hire part-time (hourly, non-benefited) Coaches and/or Writing Advisors to advance the DU Bar Success Program through coaching and feedback, working with bar takers, law students, and recent graduates as they prepare for bar exams. The amount of work is about 10 hours per week during the bar preparation period.

Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Career Development and working closely with the Director of External Relations and Assistant Directors for Private and Public Sector Opportunities, Career Consultants will spur efforts to expand professional opportunities for students and graduates of the Sturm College of Law through one-on-one counseling and group programming addressing the evolving legal market, curricular pathways, effective job search strategies, networking, interviewing, cover letter/resume writing, and other matters bearing on professional development. In collaboration with the Director of External Relations and the Director of the Externship Program, Career Consultants will work to strengthen and expand relationships with employers. They will additionally assist in compiling employment statistics for purposes of analysis and submission to outside bodies.
