Position Summary

The OLLI at DU Central Campus Manager’s primary responsibility is to oversee all operational aspects of the Central Campus program working closely with the Central Curriculum Committee and the Central Campus Program Coordinator.

Because OLLI is a membership program, the Central Campus Manager responds promptly to all member inquiries and requests and will pursue the involvement of member volunteers to become actively involved in committees and specific tasks.

OLLI at DU Central Campus Manager will adhere to the policies and procedures of the University of Denver and will follow the Guidelines of OLLI at DU. The Central Campus Manager reports to the OLLI at DU Executive Director. For More Information about OLLI at DU, please visit our website at olli@du.edu

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

Administration

Oversee all functions of Central Campus operations, including:

  • Hire and supervise Central Campus Program Coordinator
  • Monitor Central Campus Program Assistant hours and responsibilities
  • Participate in onboarding of new staff, working with other OLLI-wide Managers
  • Act as liaison among Central Campus site locations, OLLI at DU members, and facilitators
  • Contribute to annual strategic planning

Decision Making

  • Make the final decisions regarding administrative procedures for the Central campus program (in alignment with overall OLLI at DU program policies and procedures)
  • If a situation/project arises that in any way is non-site specific and affects the policies and procedures of OLLI at DU as a whole or the University of Denver and could in any way adversely affect either the campus or DU, the decision to approve or move forward must be made by the Executive Director, or in the case of the University of Denver by either the Dean of University College or the Chancellor of the University.

Financial

  • Negotiate annual space contracts (with Executive Director and DU support)
  • Monitor invoices from churches and submit in a timely manner to Executive Director
  • Oversee purchase of all equipment needs and program supplies and  adhere to Central Campus budget limits
  • Approve/monitor expenditures by Central Program Coordinator and Central Curriculum Committee members
  • Make requests for upgrading of AV equipment for the Central Campus program

Curriculum and Facilitator Support

  • Provide leadership to the Central Campus Curriculum Committee in recruiting, supporting, retaining, and recognizing facilitators
  • Select representatives from the Central Campus Curriculum Committee to the OLLI at DU Core Curriculum Committee
  • Provide leadership in the development of the curriculum for the in-person courses for the Central Campus program and the online courses for the OLLI at DU program
  • Work with the Central Curriculum Committee and the OLLI at DU Curriculum Manager to develop a year’s schedule of courses, with particular attention to course and facilitator evaluations, enrollments, and repeat courses
  • Assist facilitators in the development of course proposals and submit final edited drafts to the OLLI at DU Curriculum Manager on or before the requested deadline
  • Review course evaluation summaries and discuss with facilitators in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with the other OLLI Campus Managers to provide workshops in effective facilitation of courses for seniors at least 50 years old
  • Ensure all equipment and technology requests by facilitators are fulfilled

Membership and Volunteers

  • Determine and arrange all special events for the Central Campus with support of volunteers
  • Provide Central Campus updates to OLLI at DU Communications Manager for newsletter and Operations Coordinator for website
  • Be on-site during the first two weeks of each term to “meet and greet” members and handle any special needs that arise
  • Attempt to be visible at Central Campus sites as much as possible to interact with members and facilitators
  • Respond promptly to OLLI member requests, phone calls, and emails
  • Engage and support volunteers to various OLLI-wide and Central Campus program-specific committees and responsibilities

Attendance

  • Be on-site at the Central campus sites during the first two weeks of each term to “meet and greet” members and handle any special needs that arise
  • Attend all Executive Advisory Committee, Core Curriculum Committee, Manager, and All-staff meetings
  • Adhere to OLLI at DU Calendar

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Personable; ability to interact well with variety of people; able to anticipate needs
  • Organized – able to juggle multiple priorities at once
  • Experience with managing large groups of people
  • Good communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to manage time to meet deadlines

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience in adult education; preferably with those over 50 years old
  • Technology skills
    • Experience with Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
    • Experience with Adobe products
    • Experience with Zoom

Work Schedule 

This part-time position of up to 1000 hours per year calendar year has a flexible schedule as the duties dictate.

Work Environment 

There is not a designated office.  Mileage is reimbursed for travel that does not include going to the Central Campus location.

Hourly Range 

The hourly range for this position is $35.00-$37.00. 

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
