The Bachelor of Arts Degree Completion Program at University College at the University of Denver is currently seeking adjunct faculty with extensive industry and teaching experience to teach BACP 2075 Data Concepts and Structures.
This course will cover the basics of data to include data concepts, terminology, and literacy. Students will learn what typical data sets are, how data relationships work, and where data is stored. These concepts will be the basis for data analysis using commonly available tools and techniques.
- Differentiate various concepts and terminology commonly used in data analysis.
- Identify data structures to distinguish among data types within data sets.
- Develop data dictionaries and structures based on sample data sets.
- Compare commonly used tools and techniques for data analysis.
Adjunct faculty will receive a designed course container and will be expected to manage and engage in the course while infusing real-world examples into the curriculum and offering a diversity of perspectives as presented through materials, resources, authors/readings, and speakers if applicable.

- Prepare and post course syllabus using the University College syllabus template by deadlines.
- Update policies, ensure content is error-free, and become familiar with ed-tech tools embedded into the course.
Provide Subject Matter Expertise
- Make clear to students how content is professionally applicable.
- Foster and model critical thinking through videos that demonstrate or explain, discussions, and/or live synchronous sessions.
Maintain Regular and Consistent Instructor Presence in Your Course
- Integrate instructor-generated weekly videos.
- Employ University College-supported ed-tech tools.
- Consistently and equitably support and communicate with each student.
- Employ highly engaged discussion facilitation throughout the course.
- In online classes and hybrid classes, engage in discussion boards with substantive comments no fewer than three days per week.
Provide Specific, Relevant, and Timely Feedback
- Provide feedback on student work within seven days of submission.
- Use grading rubrics for all assignments.
- Provide specific grading comments that foster growth, improvement, and learning.
Foster an Engaged and Inclusive Learning Environment
- Foster an environment in which students feel comfortable sharing their ideas, thoughts, and questions.

- Master’s degree in the area you would like to teach or related field or a master’s degree and industry experience.
- Successful teaching/facilitation experience with adults.
- Work or academic experience congruent with the content of a course or courses offered within our Bachelor of Arts Degree Completion Program.
- Master’s degree or terminal degree in related field
- Recognition of professional accomplishment in an area of expertise related to course or courses offered within our Bachelor of Arts Degree Completion Program.
- Publication in your field.
- Professional presentations related to the courses within the Bachelor of Arts Degree Completion Program or within the teaching and learning sector.
- Licensing and/or certification by professional organizations.
- Completion of an education or training program on adult learning or internship/mentorship that addresses adult learning principles and practices.
