Position Summary

The University of Denver is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Club Women’s Hockey Coach to lead our Club Women’s Hockey team for the 2025-2026 season. This position requires an experienced coach with a strong background in hockey and experience coaching at a high level (AA-AAA, juniors). The ideal candidate will foster a supportive, disciplined, and motivating environment to help student-athletes reach their full potential. 

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to away games, two weekly evening practices and weekends for games.
  • Ability to coach from mid-August to end of March (no coaching during summer or winter break)
  • Plan and execute effective and productive practices and game plans.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive training environment for all athletes, ensuring adherence to team and university standards.
  • Develop seasonal training plans, prepare athletes for competition, and provide strategic coaching to help the club achieve their goals
  • Promote a positive team culture and encourage sportsmanship, discipline, and accountability among club members.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Club Sports Manager and other relevant university staff.
  • Abide by the University of Denver club coaching policies and guidelines.
  • Attend mandatory coach meetings with the Club Sports Manager and any other required trainings.

Minimum Certification Requirements

  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • CDC Heads Up Concussion Training Certification
  • USA Hockey Level 4 or 5 Coaching Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coaching at a high level (AA-AAA, juniors)
  • Experience coaching women
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Has a passion for working with athletes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster team spirit, motivate athletes and conflict resolution skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on the team’s training and competition schedule.
  • Knows how to balance fun with competitiveness and wants the players to enjoy their experience on the team.

Work Schedule

  • This position will average 15 hrs/week.

  • Able to commit to traveling to away games, two weekly practices each week in the evenings and weekends for games.

Hourly Range

The hourly range for this position is $23.00-$28.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status
