The mission of the University of Denver's Health & Counseling Center is to enhance overall student well-being and success through inclusive physical and mental healthcare, prevention, education, advocacy, and recovery support services. The HCC is an on-campus facility with two counseling locations open 8am-5pm M-F with evening hours until 7pm two to three evenings a week during the academic year. This position works a minimum of one 10-7 pm shift per week, one to two quarters during academic year. The HCC provides a wide range of on-site medical and mental health services, along with advocacy, recovery and health promotion for the whole campus community. The Staff Psychologist/Assessment Coordinator is a member of the Counseling Services senior staff and provides direct counseling/psychotherapy, crisis intervention, assessment, and outreach/prevention services to DU students, faculty, and staff. This position oversees the psychological assessment and testing services provided by Counseling Services (particularly for learning disabilities and ADHD) and supervises doctoral interns and other trainees on assessment. This position works within an integrated care model including primary care, mental health, advocacy, collegiate recovery program and health promotion in the Health and Counseling Center and works in close collaboration with the Disabilities Service Program (DSP) and the Learning Effectiveness Program (LEP). The staff psychologist serves as primary individual supervisor for psychology interns in an APA accredited internship position. This is a full-time, benefited, 40 hour per week position and reports to the Director of Counseling Services.
- Provides direct clinical services including individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to DU students.
- Completes psychological assessments for students seeking evaluation.
- Provides crisis intervention services via both our daytime crisis system (Counselor of the Day) and as a back-up to our after-hours on-call system.
- Organizes and directs psychological assessment services (particularly for Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit disorders) for the DU Health and Counseling Center (HCC).
- Assigns psychological testing cases, provides training related to all aspects of psychological assessment such as selection of appropriate measures, clinical interview, administration, scoring, interpretation, testing report writing, and providing appropriate feedback to clients.
- Participates in intern recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation; including individual supervision for one doctoral intern.
- Participates in Graduate Student Trainee recruitment, selection, training and evaluation as needed.
- Provides consultation services as assigned.
- Assists in creating and revising departmental policies and procedures and website revisions related to clinical care in all the above areas, particularly in assessment.
- Assists with research activities within the Counseling Center as assigned.
- Maintain client records in a timely manner and according to Counseling Center procedures.
- Maintains competency and enhances professional growth and development through continuing education activities as required for area of specialty and maintenance of license.
- Works collaboratively with various departments within Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence, particularly DSP and LEP.
- Serves on the Disability Services accommodations committee.

- Administration: (including 1 hour/week senior staff meeting; 1 hour/week full staff meeting; charting – intakes, progress notes, termination summaries; handling telephone calls and email; reviewing and cosigning supervisees’ charting; reviewing supervisees’ tapes; etc.): 15%

- This position requires sophisticated written and verbal communication skills, and involves occasional outreach presentations; meetings with students, parents and administrators, and writing clinical case notes, reports and policies.

- Ability to function independently and to supervise and train several personnel.

- Experience with the Microsoft Office environment, especially Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, and the ability to communicate effectively through email is essential. Familiarity and experience with electronic medical records systems is desirable.
- Licensed or license- eligible within three months in the State of Colorado as a psychologist.
- Expertise in psychological testing, especially in the areas of learning disabilities and ADHD.
- Expertise in providing short and long-term psychotherapy/counseling.
- Experience with supervision, crisis intervention, outreach/prevention, groups.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Inclusive Excellence and Equity.
- Experience supervising psychological assessment.
- Expertise in treating anxiety disorders.
- Experience working with an interdisciplinary team.
- Two years’ experience in university/college counseling center.
- Experience with outreach, prevention, and groups.
Typically M-F from 8am-5pm, with up to one evening until 7pm during the academic year. Minimal weekend work as needed.

The salary grade for the position is 13.
The salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
