As the University’s largest and most varied academic unit, the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) is comprised of artists, learners, performers, scholars, scientists, and teachers across 21+ departments, programs, schools, and centers and acts as a central hub where many of the University's disciplines intersect. Nearly all 6,000 undergraduates at the University take liberal arts courses with us, and about one-third of these students declare a first major in a CAHSS program. Half of our departments, programs and schools offer master's or doctoral programs. CAHSS scholars, artists, instructors, staff, and students collaborate in a shared quest for knowledge about the human condition and the development of skills to improve our local and global communities. The diverse scope of CAHSS allows our students to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed at nearly any career in today’s global society. 

Position Summary

This part-time, non-benefitted position will support the CAHSS Facilities, Infrastructure and Equipment department in performing critical facility management functions. This is an opportunity to develop and strengthen skills and experience in the facility, property and real estate management career fields. Responsibilities and tasks include: project meetings and scheduling; managing departmental email correspondence; managing key check-outs and returns; assisting with the inventorying process of IT and other assets; supporting special and cyclical projects, such as construction projects, asset auditing, and space management.  

Schedules are flexible at approximately 15-30 hours per week, in-person on the University of Denver’s main campus.

This is a non-benefited, part-time position not to exceed 1000 hours in a calendar year. 

Essential Functions

  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to email management, documents review and preparation, filing paperwork and organizing electronic files, manage storage areas and inventory, perform minor data analysis, and other administrative duties. 
  • Submit work orders and track them from submission to resolution.  
  • Manage the key issuance and return processes, oversee/assist with departmental key usage and access matters, retrieve keys as orders for new keys are fulfilled, manage the inventory of keys in the lockboxes.  
  • Manage the College’s inventory of computers by enrolling computers in the assets inventory, ensuring computers are properly tagged, and facilitating a variety of processes related to IT asset management.   
  • Assist in completing space inspections, basic safety assessments, asset audits, and ensure electronic data is accurate, thorough, and updated. 
  • Respond to facilities issues that may occur at a variety of locations across campus and triage the situation until it can be stabilized.  
  • Assist instructors that are experiencing challenges that are disruptive to their class (i.e., locked classrooms, malfunctioning AV technology, and collaborate with other divisions to ensure instructors are connected to appropriate resources.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proven planning and organizational skills, high level of attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative and independent judgement
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft office suite
  • A willingness to learn and engage with functions related to facility, property, and real estate management;   

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Experience with working on a computer, Microsoft Suite software

Preferred Qualifications

  • A two- and/or four-year degree or the equivalent thereof in either job-relevant vocational/trades training and/or work experience;  Previous work experience in a facility management-related field, such as construction, sustainability, commercial/residential property management, architecture, etc.; and,  
  • Prior work experience in a professional setting 
  • Prior experience  in higher education administration or strong interest in the learning the sector.  

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.

Hourly Range

The hourly range for this position is $22.00-30.00.

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information-but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
