The Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging (KIHA) is a cross-campus interdisciplinary institute that has the following Vision: Quality in Life, Wellness and Community. The Institute coordinates team science at DU and collaborates with companies, institutions, and government to enhance the quality of life for older adults through applied research, education, training, and community engagement.

Position Summary

The Program Manager for the Whole Person Health Initiative will work with the Faculty Director to support the development, coordination, and implementation of a campus-wide and community-focused effort to advance whole person health research, education, and engagement.

The Program Manager will collaborate closely with KIHA leadership, faculty across DU, community partners, and external practitioners to operationalize a multidisciplinary well-being hub that bridges research and real-world application. This role will launch and sustain new educational programs, workshops, seminars, and evidence-based well-being programming through KIHA and in partnership with entities across DU. Responsibilities include program design and logistics, research synthesis and dissemination, community partnerships, communications, and administrative coordination, including the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students and any associated staff.

The ideal candidate is an organized, relationship-oriented professional with experience in higher education program management, health or wellness initiatives, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. This position contributes directly to DU’s leadership in healthy aging and lifelong well-being, supporting KIHA’s mission to improve quality of life across the lifespan. This is currently a six month grant funded position with extended employment contingent on additional funding

Essential Functions

  • Work and partner with faculty, KIHA leadership, DU schools and administrative units, as well as external partners to plan, implement, and refine program content.
  • Facilitate cross-campus engagement, connecting researchers, practitioners, students, and community members.
  • Represent the initiative at meetings, community forums, and campus events.
  • Identify, gather, and synthesize existing interdisciplinary research related to whole person health across DU.
  • Monitor national developments in whole person health to inform ongoing program innovation.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning and sustainability models, including researching grant opportunities and developing earned revenue streams.
  • Assist in preparing grant proposals, white papers, grant materials, and communications that position KIHA as a leader in whole person health.
  • Prepare reports for KIHA leadership and funding agencies; monitor progress toward strategic goals.
  • Organize community events, workshops, and integrative health activities that promote healthy aging and lifelong well-being.
  • Support recruitment, enrollment, and retention for educational offerings.

  • Support dissemination of evidence-based practices through events, seminars, reports, summaries, presentations, online resources, and community-facing materials.
  • Maintain documentation, workflows, and systems for tracking initiatives, collaborations, and impact metrics.
  • Collect and analyze participant feedback; implement improvements based on data and stakeholder input.
  • Oversee program budgets, expense tracking, and procurement processes.
  • Supervise a team of bachelors, masters, and doctoral students as well as any associated staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Academic training in and knowledge of whole person health concepts, including integrative health, lifestyle medicine, social determinants of health, mind-body-spirit practices, and complementary and alternative approaches.
  • Ability to align program activities with KIHA and DU goals and values, especially around healthy aging and whole-person well-being.
  • Working knowledge of program design and evaluation within higher education, community health, public health, or research-driven settings.
  • Ability to translate academic research into practical, community-facing programs and resources.
  • Understanding of research translation and dissemination practices, including evidence-based implementation in community or educational contexts.
  • Research coordination and synthesis skills, including gathering, organizing, and summarizing scientific findings into accessible formats.
  • Data organization and reporting skills, including basic proficiency with data analysis, evaluation metrics, and assessment tools.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary collaboration models, especially those bridging academia, research, and community engagement.
  • Experience with community partnership development, particularly in health, aging, or wellness sectors.
  • Relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments, disciplines, and community organizations.
  • Project management skills including planning, coordination, implementation, timeline management, and tracking deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities for a variety of audiences (faculty, students, practitioners, community members).
  • Curriculum and program development skills, such as creating learning objectives, instructional materials, and training resources.
  • Strong administrative and operational skills, including scheduling, budgeting, document management, and workflow coordination.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to build consensus, facilitate group discussions, and support perspectives in interdisciplinary settings.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to long-term program planning and visioning.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving program needs, emerging research, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Ability to interact respectfully and effectively with individuals from various backgrounds, ages, and health literacy levels.
  • Must be an adaptable, multi-tasking, problem-solver while showing flexibility and being an independent worker.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters in social work, psychology, gerontology, or other related field
  • Formal training in whole person health
  • Administrative work experience in higher education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in grant writing, management, and tracking
  • Experience in program management and community organization

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment
  • Noise level is moderate to high

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for an extended period
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance

Work Schedule
The University of Denver's regular operating hours are 8 AM - 4:30 PM. This position is a part time position, intended to work approximately 20 hours a week.  In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade

The salary grade for this position is 12

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $40.87-$45.98
