The Department of Facilities Management and Planning supports the mission of the University of Denver's physical resources to provide a healthy and safe educational environment for the campus community through services of the departments of Capital Projects and Planning, Facilities Management, Parking & Mobility Services, Auxiliaries & Real Estate, and Business & Operations.

Position Summary

The Parking and Mobility Services Specialist is assigned to Parking and Mobility Services and reports to the Field Operations Manager. This position is the primary parking enforcement personnel for the University. Their duties include, but are not limited to, parking enforcement and management, customer service, vehicle traffic control, office staff augmentation, and augmenting the Campus Safety operations when needed.

Essential Functions

In addition to following the University of Denver’s policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The specialist has the primary responsibility for enforcement of parking rules and regulations, traffic flow and management on University property, light maintenance of parking equipment and property, event parking management, and the collection of money from all parking meters and pays stations.
  • Responds to customer calls for assistance and calls for service that involves parking areas or vehicles on University property and completes the appropriate reports as necessary. These may include but are not limited to motorist assists, vehicle accidents, and vehicle immobilizations. Specialists may be called upon to handle other types of reports as necessary.
  • Specialists may be called upon to assist with the administrative operations of the Parking Services Department. These duties may include selling permits, file and records management, collection and counting of cash receipts, and/or any other duties that may be assigned.
  • Investigates reported or discovered suspicious activities, unusual occurrences, and criminal offenses.
  • Enforces relevant state statutes, city ordinances, and University regulations.
  • Renders assistance to members of the campus community as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to the client, manager, or customer questions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and create and interpret graphical charts.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in very fluid situations.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that requires individual thought and initiative.
  • Capable of facilitating the interactions of diverse needs and complex organizations.
  • Ability to maintain professional standards and conduct during stressful and often emotional situations.
  • Ability to deliver and follow detailed instructions.
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have intermediate computer skills, including experience with Windows-based applications, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to complete specialized training.
  • Thorough knowledge of simple set-up, adjustment, and operational procedures of work-related equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree
  • Must complete and maintain certification in Basic First Aid/CPR.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License and be insurable under University guidelines.
  • Must pass a Pre-Placement Physical

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or bachelor’s degree in a technical area and 3-5 years of work experience in a relevant area.

Working Environment

  1. Standard office environment.
  2. Outside work in all kinds of weather and environmental conditions.
  3. Unexpected interruptions often occur, and stress level is moderate to high.
  4. The noise level is quiet to loud.

Physical Activities

  1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period
  2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting and moving objects up to 75 pounds without human assistance; with human assistance up to 150 pounds.

Work Schedule

The University’s administrative offices are open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Work schedule may vary.

Salary Grade Number:

The salary grade for the position is 5.

Hourly Range:

The hourly range for the position is $19.16 - $22.05.

The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
