Position Summary

The Admission Specialist is responsible for the management of communication with students and families who contact Undergraduate Admission. Responsibilities include monitoring and responding to emails, providing information about the University and the admission process via phone, and assisting with administrative tasks. The Admission Specialist oversees the data entry of prospective student inquiries in our CRM system; works closely with our Communication Team; and is responsible for training and managing several student employees. The Admission Specialist is often a student or family's first contact with DU, so exemplary customer service and communication, both oral and written are essential.

Essential Functions

  • Answer a high volume of incoming phone calls, emails, and texts: respond to questions, provide information, and route calls/emails to appropriate recipients.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student employees.
  • Work with the Communications team to review and offer editing suggestions for outbound communications and webpages.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide incoming students with the most updated information.
  • Manage and keep a detailed record of mail room inventory.
  • Manage incoming/outgoing mail for department.
  • Process and deliver checks for deposit.
  • Assist with data entry of recording inquiries from a variety of sources into our CRM system.
  • Download housing application and test score results into our system.
  • Assist other staff with projects as required, including compiling admit packets for mailout, ordering/shipping materials, and participating in calling campaigns.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Communication skills: excellent written and speaking skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, university colleagues and the general public over the phone, in writing and occasionally in person.
  • Customer service skills: ability to provide exceptional customer service to students and families who are trying to navigate the admission process.
  • Detail-oriented: diligent and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Organization and time management skills: ability to juggle tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated independent thinking and ability to work well within a team with a high level of professionalism.
  • Training and teaching skills: ability to train and give feedback and guidance to student workers.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or advanced specialized or technical training.
  • Advanced professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and data entry experience.
  • Experience working in an administrative setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a customer service role.
  • Familiarity with the University of Denver.
  • Experience supervising college student workers.

 Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number:

The salary grade for the position is 6.

Hourly Rate:

The hourly rate for the position is $23.75 and this position is scheduled to work 37.5 hours a week.

Annual compensation is calculated as follows - $23.75 hourly x 37.5 hours weekly = $46,490 annually.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
