Our small classes, engaged faculty, and atmosphere of experimentation and collaboration to offer our students a multi-dimensional education that prepares them to excel and innovate in science and technology. Academic support resources such as faculty advising, teaching assistants, near-peer tutors, student clubs, and more are all part of the student support system run through the Dean’s office for all three departments. The Applied Research and Technology Institute (ARTI) was established in 1940’s to address issues in space exploration and security, and conduct classified studies and custom research, development and testing services. The program, which occupies approximately 120 acres in Arapahoe County, is sunsetting in Q4 2026. Position Summary This position provides operational coordination and execution of ARTI close out and vacancy efforts. The coordinator will oversee the liquidation and reallocation of fixed assets and materials and supplies, and assist with preparing the property for vacancy. The position reports to the RSECS Building Project Manager and works closely with the ARTI Senior Project Manager, RSECS Assistant Dean of Business and Operations, and RSECS Sponsored Programs Business Officer. This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year. Essential Functions Lead effort in the operational close out and vacating ARTI range. Collaborate with prospective buyers to negotiate pricing, arrange sales, and schedule pick up of fixed assets and consumable materials and supplies. Arrange transfer of fixed assets, materials, and supplies to internal recipients at DU Main Campus. Document management – archiving and destruction. Coordinate the disposal and removal of salvaged goods. Land, building, and groundskeeping as assigned to maintain safety standards. Perform related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proven planning and organizational skills, demonstrated initiative, and must be able to complete action items within a pre-defined timeframe. With the guidance of RSECS leadership, ability to discern between fixed assets and disposable goods. Respect the management of hazardous and explosive materials. Willingness to work on location at ARTI site in Colorado’s Eastern Plains, oftentimes outdoors as weather conditions allow. Required Qualifications Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college; or two to three years of administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two to three years of responsible administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with research site clean-up and remediation Working Environment Indoor administrative work may be performed in a modular trailer with office and storage space. Other indoor work will be performed in storage and lab buildings. Outdoor work will be performed on grassland terrain. As this is grassland terrain, expect encounters with insects, rodents and other wildlife. Noise level is quiet to loud. Physical Activities Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to engage in light to moderate physical activity (lifting, sorting, moving materials) up to 8 hours/day. Required to ambulate without assistance on unpaved roads and grasslands within the 120-acre property. Ability to navigate stairs. Ability to drive a sitting lawnmower and forklift on occasion. Must complete requirements to obtain approval to drive for DU (https://www.du.edu/risk/driving-du) once hired. With proper protection, work may involve exposure to hazardous materials. Work Schedule The work is to be conducted on-site, 20 hours per week. Some administrative work may be remote within reason and with prior approval from the Assistant Dean. The successful candidate can negotiate their schedule within the hours of 8:00-4:30 M-F. Hourly Range The hourly range for the position is $28.00 - $30.00.
