Opened in 2002, the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver is acclaimed as one of the nation’s finest performing arts centers.

Position Summary

The Coordinator, Marketing & Communication provides support to the Newman Center’s marketing efforts specifically in the following areas: social media and digital advertising, email marketing and segmentation, copywriting, and basic graphic design, along with various marketing departmental needs. This position is up to 20 hours per week starting in July 2024.

Essential Functions

  • Post, maintain, and interact with patrons on social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube)
  • Design and schedule emails; support Assistant Director of Marketing with segmentation of email campaigns
  • Update and maintain Newman Center website
  • Write copy and create/design content for social media, website, press releases etc.
  • Requires basic graphic design skills (Canva, InDesign, etc.) and artistic eye
  • Work Newman Center events as necessary
  • Support development, education and other Newman Center departments as necessary on various projects (includes marketing strategy for DU fundraising events like #1Day4DU and education projects like Music Creators summer camp).
  • Other Functions
    • Hire and manage student interns/employees

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn administrative software quickly and efficiently
  • Experience with email marketing software (ex: Campaign Monitor, Mailchimp etc.)
  • Social media platform (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) account knowledge, familiarity with trends, best practices, maintaining brand voice, etc.
  • Ability to analyze data from platforms and adjust our strategy as needed for both in-house posting and digital advertising
  • Exceptional proofreading, editing, and copywriting skills
  • Working knowledge of publishing and design software, such as Adobe InDesign, Canva and Photoshop
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work well both with a team and independently
  • Ability to manage sensitive, confidential material in a professional manner
  • Willingness to learn on the fly and adapt quickly

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in marketing, public relations, or comparable communications field from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 2 years of marketing and social media experience or equivalent education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for a nonprofit organization
  • Working, professional interest in the performing arts

Working Environment

  1. Standard office environment
  2. Noise level is quiet to moderate
  3. Some night hours are required on limited occasions

Physical Activities

  1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
  2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule

The University’s administrative offices are open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 

The position is for 20 hours per week. Work schedule may vary and will be determined by supervisor. Some occasional nights and weekends required to work events.

Salary Grade Number:

The salary grade for the position is 7.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
