The Department of Facilities Management supports the mission of the University of Denver's physical resources in order to provide a healthy and safe educational environment for campus community through services of the departments of Capital Projects and Planning, Facilities Management, Parking & Mobility Services, Auxiliaries & Real Estate, and Business & Operations.
Position Summary
The shuttle driver will be responsible for pick-up and drop-off of students, staff, faculty, and other members of the DU community on a fixed route and on-demand service. They will be responsible for providing directions and high-quality customer service to members of the DU community, operating a mobile device, maintaining accurate ridership logs via a software application, operation of an ADA wheelchair lift, and daily inspections of the University vehicle.
The working hours for the position is approximately 16-20 hours a week.
Essential Functions
In addition to following the University of Denver’s policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Inspecting shuttle and preparing mobile device for shift
- Responsible for transporting students from the main campus to off-site locations and the off-site locations back to main campus
- Compliance with traffic and safety regulations in order to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner
- Driving shuttle on an on-demand request basis
- Driving shuttle on a fixed route service
- Completing post-shift work
- Other duties related to driving such as refueling and general housekeeping
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to speak, read and write the English language.
- Ability to understand and exchange information with the customers and staff of the Parking and Mobility Services department.
- Ability to react to changing conditions in route format, weather, or general driving conditions.
- Ability to pass the University’s Driver Safety course
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License
- 1 year of prior driving experience
- Ability to communicate with the public
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of professional driving experience
Working Environment
- Some indoor preparation and outdoor vehicle inspection are largely relegated to the inside of the various university-owned vehicles.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Vision correctable to 20/30
Work Schedule
The University’s administrative offices are open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Work schedule may vary.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $19.00 - $21.00.
