Position Summary

The Executive Assistant to the Dean provides outstanding, proactive, and highly professional administrative support to the Dean of the Sturm College of Law. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following principal tasks, among others: (1) anticipating, managing, prioritizing, and facilitating the Dean’s communications (e-mail and phone), calendar, schedule, and workflow, with the goal of advancing the work of the Dean in an efficient and effective manner; (2) facilitating prompt, responsive, clear, and professional communications between the Deans’ Suite and other stakeholders; (3) collaborating with other members of the Deans’ Suite in advancing the work and mission of the Sturm College of Law; and (4) effectively advancing and completing a variety of special projects in support of the Dean’s priorities. The successful candidate should be skilled at communication, collaboration, prioritization, multitasking, and project management and consistently model professionalism, sound judgment, thoroughness, speed, teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to respectful engagement, inclusion, and customer service.

Essential Functions

  • Anticipate, manage, prioritize, and facilitate the Dean’s communications (e-mail and phone), calendar, schedule, travel, and workflow, with the goal of advancing the work of the Dean in an efficient and effective manner;
  • Facilitate prompt, responsive, clear, and professional communications between the Deans’ Suite and other stakeholders, including, without limitation, faculty, staff, students, the Provost’s Office, the Chancellor’s Office, other units, alumni, and board members;
  • Serve as the principal point of contact within the Deans’ Suite for internal and external constituents on all matters pertaining to the law school;
  • Effectively assume, advance, and complete a variety of special projects in support of the Dean’s priorities;
  • Undertake administrative tasks that advance the work of the Deans’ Suite, including managing communications, facilitating meetings, booking travel, submitting expense reports, making departmental deposits to the University’s Cashier’s Office, and maintaining records in a manner consistent with University- and unit-level policies;
  • Manage various operational functions of the Deans’ Suite, including, without limitation, assisting with events, coordinating visits and interviews by job candidates, assisting with annual performance reviews, onboarding/offboarding employees, and processing non-benefited student and staff hires;
  • Attend faculty meetings, recording attendance and draft minutes;
  • Perform other additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Four (4) years of relevant administrative, project management, communications, or customer service experience
  • Demonstrated interest and capacity for critical thinking, problem solving, and generating creative solutions in dynamic organizational settings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher education setting

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 10.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $62,000-$72,000

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
