Position Summary

The University of Denver is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Club Freeride Coach to lead our Club Freeride team for the 2025-2026 season. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive, disciplined, and motivating environment to help student-athletes reach their full potential.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

  • Strong knowledge of freeride operations and competition structure, including judging criteria, with the ability to provide feedback and guidance for athletes at varying levels.
  • Active participation in course inspection, supporting athletes in reviewing their lines and ensuring choices align with their abilities.
  • Attending competitions to observe athletes and provide constructive feedback afterward to support ongoing development.
  • Outside of competitions, assisting team officers in leading larger groups around the mountain and helping with organization and coordination, during a competition weekend

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Has a passion for working with athletes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster team spirit, motivate athletes and conflict resolution skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including mostly weekends, based on the team's training and competition schedule.
  • Knows how to balance fun with competitiveness and wants the players to enjoy their experience on the team.

Required Qualifications

  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (able to be acquired within first 30 days of employment)
  • CDC Heads Up Concussion Training Certification (able to be acquired within first 30 days of employment)

Work Schedule

  • This position will average 8-15 hrs/week.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on the team's training and competition schedule.
  • Ability to coach from October to end of March (no coaching during summer or winter break unless otherwise assigned).

Hourly Range

The hourly range for this position is $20.00-$25.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status
