Position Summary The University of Denver is seeking an experienced, driven, and passionate fundraiser to join our Advancement team as the Director of Development. Essential Functions Fundraising Develop meaningful and productive relationships with a portfolio of major gift donors includingalumni, friends, parents and community members. This position is responsible for engaging philanthropic support for Daniels priorities and will workprimarily with major, principal, and planned gift donors assigned to his/her portfolio. The Director is responsible for achieving annual goals and metrics set in collaboration withUniversity development leadership. Leadership In partnership with the Executive Director Development for Daniels, establish fundraising prioritiesfor Daniels based on the strategic vision for the University of Denver (IMPACT 2025) as well as thestrategic vision for Daniels (Daniels in Focus). Help educate colleagues and peers across campus onthose priorities. Engage in the advancement goal-setting process for fundraising and engagement metrics. Effectively and responsibly steward budgetary and other resources to advance the mission of theUniversity of Denver. Partnerships & University Citizenship Serve as an active partner to all central and unit-based advancement functions and other campuscolleagues to foster strategic, effective, and collaborative fundraising practices. Model “One DU” leadership. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated ability to form and fully leverage cross-functional teams of colleagues, volunteers, andacademic/University leaders toward closure of transformational gifts. Must have strong communication skills, including the ability to speak and write effectively andpersuasively; draft compelling proposals and letters. Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team. Must be able to manage time well, particularly while managing competing priorities. Ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively and responsibly. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. 5 years of paid fundraising experience. Demonstrated ability to provide fundraising strategy and support to academic/organizational leaders. Demonstrated ability to secure major gifts ($50,000+) and principal gifts ($1 million+) by strategicallymanaging a portfolio and fostering meaningful relationships. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree. Higher education fundraising experience strongly preferred. Experience working in and/or leading a college-based development environment. Working Environment Standard office environment. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high. Noise level is quiet to moderate. Physical Activities Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus. Salary Grade Number:The salary grade for the position is 12.Salary Range:The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
