At DU Executive Education, we’re looking for a bold, strategic, and mission-driven sales professional to join our entrepreneurial team. As our next Director of Business Development, you won’t just sell a product—you’ll sell impact. This is a player-coach role for someone ready to lead from the front. You’ll be the primary driver of revenue, overseeing a $1.2M portfolio through both B2C and B2B sales. At the same time, you’ll manage and inspire a small but mighty sales and marketing team. Essential Functions
Sales & Business Development
- Drive $1.2M+ in annual revenue through full-cycle sales of open enrollment, private and custom programs.
- Increase loyalty and retention by deepening relationships with our existing clients (corporate, non-profits, and government).
- Grow new business by expanding from B2C to B2B by cultivating employer-sponsored enrollments and organizational partnerships.
- Oversee the sales strategy, in partnership with the Sales Consultant, for open enrollment programs ensuring that enrollment goals are met.
- Lead discovery conversations, present tailored proposals, and close consultative sales—especially with senior HR and talent development leaders.
- Manage the sales pipeline in Salesforce and use data to prioritize, forecast, and report.
- Collaborate with DU’s corporate engagement and advancement teams to leverage existing relationships with alumni and corporate partners.
Team Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, coach, and develop a small team (Marketing Manager and Sales Consultant) with a focus on empowerment and shared accountability.
- Align individual and team efforts to sales goals, provide clear direction amongst shifting priorities, and drive innovation in processes/systems to maximize efficiency.
- Foster a team culture aligned with our team values of communication, innovation, work ethic and quality, adaptability and community.
- Serve as a senior member of the Executive Ed leadership team, helping shape priorities across business development, marketing, and program strategy.
Marketing & Partnerships
- Oversee the marketing and communication strategy in partnership with the Marketing Manager—email, sales collateral, digital ads, LinkedIn, and website.
- Drive top-of-funnel growth, optimize campaigns based on performance data, and ensure alignment with sales efforts.
- Refine brand and messaging strategy in collaboration with the Marketing Manager and the Executive Director.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships that enhance brand awareness and drive revenue.
Client Experience & Program Support
- Partner with the Program Success team to ensure an outstanding customer experience (with an eye on maximizing sales efforts) from inquiry to post-program follow-up.
- Be the face of Executive Education—open and close public programs, support key client deliveries, and drive referrals and repeat business.

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of sales experience with a strong track record of year-over-year revenue growth.
- Proven ability to drive full-cycle sales—especially consultative selling to senior decision-makers (CHROs, CPOs, etc.).
- Experience using Salesforce (or similar CRM tool) to manage pipeline, track results, and building reports to analyze data and trends.
- Strong leadership and people management skills; prior experience managing or mentoring others.
- Proven experience developing and executing successful sales strategies that align with organizational goals, including the ability to prioritize, plan, and manage multiple initiatives with precision and follow-through
- Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Learning & Development (L&D) landscape, experience selling into HR/talent functions, or proven track record of selling business solutions.
- Experience in B2B sales or partnership development.
- Background in brand development, brand messaging, and/or content marketing.
- Cross-functional experience working closely with marketing teams or managing marketing initiatives.
- Experience in a start-up or entrepreneurial environment.
Working Environment
- Hybrid work policy is 2-days remote and 3-days in the office. The hiring manager will share more about DU hybrid work policy and discuss work schedule flexibility.
- Work environment is a standard office environment where noise level is quiet to moderate
Physical Activities
- Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends. Hybrid work policy is 2-days remote and 3-days in the office. The hiring manager will share more about DU hybrid work policy and discuss work schedule flexibility.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 13.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $95,000- $102,000.
