Position Summary

The Manager of Marketing & Fan Experience develops marking collateral needed for the Division of Athletics to increase brand awareness, increase revenue, assist with in-game production, aligns with sponsorship teams to fulfil partnership agreements, and increases engagement to provide overall collegiate experience. Collateral material includes precise graphic design both static and digitally, social media campaign design and assistance with fulfilment to increase ticket sales, influence followers, increase revenue and overall engagement.

The Manager of Marketing & Fan Experience manages an overall marketing plan to align with the overall mission of the Division of Athletics as well as the University of Denver. Position must collaborate across the Division and University to implement plans and demonstrate results in a positive manner reflecting an increase of engagement, retention, and revenue.

The Manager of Marketing & Fan Experience will assist in the production of all aspects of game day activities to include script development, promotions, operations and execution associated sponsorships, internal and external entities. The position is responsible for exceptional customer service to ensure overall fan experience while maintaining positive relationships across the entire University community. Position must exhibit professional standards and ethical behavior regarding the NCAA, Conference, University, and the Division of Athletics.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement and sustain annual integrated marketing plans for the Division of Athletics through strategic planning, data-driven decisions, and customer feedback to increase revenue and ensure success
    • Integrated plans to include but not limited to strategic initiatives, defined target audiences, sales goal and retention plans, return on investment, surveys and action plans associated. Demonstrate alignment across the Divisional plans to include diversity, inclusion and equity.o Advance the overall quality of creative thinking both within the marketing and communications team and the Division as a whole. Bring new and ongoing perspectives such as industry trends, competitors that may affect our overall business development.
    • Manage quotes and allocate funding accordingly from overall marketing budget allotted to assigned project. Track all budget transitions.
    • Integrated marketing plans should align with other external operations and service units (ticketing/development/creative services/communication) to include but not limited to: social media campaigns, website presence, digital signage, static signage, media partners and broadcast needs.
  • Create graphic designs for marketing and advertising collateral pieces for the Division of Athletics to align with integrated marketing plan to increase revenue and fan engagement across diverse audiences. Draw attention to athletic programs, venue and offerings through visual appeal
    • Create strong visual designs and graphics via InDesign, Photoshop, Canva or other graphic design software.
    • Establish creative design narrative to provide an overall consistency of brand and relay proper information to stakeholders both internally and externally with a call to action to produce revenue or provoke ongoing interest.
    • Design graphics that are compelling across diverse modes will include digital, static displays, signage, mobile applications and special projects.
    • Edit, proof, and review pieces of marketing to ensure quality and accuracy.
    • Graphics must align with the current Division brand guidelines, Division values and mission, conference membership, NCAA as well as the University of Denver.
  • Produce in-event/game entertainment for athletics to best represent the Division’s success and overall University mission through creative concepts to enhance overall fan experience

    • Develop and fulfill scripts to showcase campus partners, highlight student-athletes and accomplishments, and external partners. Implement proper “call to action” communications for customer ease to drive ticket sales and revenue generation. Master scripting software (ShoFlo) system to best serve the Division.
    • Contribute to the implementation and execution of new and existing promotional concepts to create interest, make a sale, and provide retention of fans via multifaced platforms. Bring strategies to life, campaigns, stories, online presence via different perspectives.
    • Collaborate visual concepts and design to produce Division I collegiate atmosphere. Includes open and hype videos, moving head shots, in-event commercials, promotional features to drive revenue generation, increase engagement (crowd prompts) and partnership fulfillment. Work in unison with Technical Services and Creative Team.
    • Monitor sponsorship and/or partnership agreements within events to ensure fulfillment and client satisfaction, while maintaining the integrity of the game itself and a balance of internal communications verses all sponsor related pieces
  • Oversee and mentor part-time support staff to properly fulfill marketing initiatives internally and externally for the Division on game/event dates as well as office hours

    • Responsible for staff training to include processes, procedures, and outcomes to provide error free game day implementation.
    • Develop checklists, standard operating procedures and guidelines associated with the Division to fulfill game day responsibilities.
    • Manage hours and payroll entry for employees through assigned technology software. Work within the budget parameters
    • Provide precise ongoing communications internally and externally to best serve all in positive manner to reflect the Division mission and all values and provide a high standard of customer service consistently.
    • Mentor employees by teaching, monitoring and measuring progression of their development to ensure growth and employee satisfaction. Motivate others to champion a customer-centric culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Marketing or related field preferred
  • At least 5 years’ experience

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate

Physical Activities

  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs. with assistance.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 9.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $58,000-$65,000

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
