The Business Solutions & Analysis Team is comprised of a team of business officers who are highly trained and efficient in University business functions. This office sits in the Business and Financial Affairs Division. We strive to be a trusted and innovative partner delivering exemplary business services in support of the DU community.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Operations and Analytics, the Business Analyst supports the Business Solutions & Analysis team in delivering scalable tools, data-driven insights, and process improvements across BSA units. This role bridges technical solutions and business needs by gathering requirements, analyzing workflows, and supporting the design of dashboards, models, and process optimizations. The Business Analyst will play a key role in enabling data-informed decision-making, advancing reporting capabilities, and improving efficiency across the university.

Essential Functions

  • Partner with Business Solutions and Analysis leadership, Business Officers, and unit stakeholders to identify needs and translate them into functional requirements.
  • Document and analyze current-state business processes, recommending opportunities for improvement and standardization.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to design scalable and sustainable solutions.
  • Assist in the development, testing, and deployment of dashboards, tools, and models that support operational and strategic goals.
  • Support Salesforce, Banner, MYFAB, and SmartView initiatives, including data entry efficiencies and dashboard optimization.
  • Ensure user requirements are met and solutions are properly adopted.
  • Gather, validate, and interpret data from multiple systems to support decision-making.
  • Build and maintain reports, visualizations, and dashboards for BSA stakeholders.
  • Monitor data quality and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and consistency.
  • Support system rollouts and process changes by creating user guides, documentation, and training materials.
  • Assist in facilitating training sessions to advance data literacy and system proficiency for Business Officers and unit staff.
  • Clearly communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to document, evaluate, and improve business workflows to drive operational efficiency and standardization
  • Skilled in gathering, validating, and analyzing data from multiple systems to support strategic decision-making
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems such as Salesforce, Banner, MYFAB, and SmartView
  • Proficiency in creating dashboards and visual reports using tools like Tableau, Cognos, or similar platforms
  • Advanced Excel skills for building financial models, performing data analysis, and supporting forecasting efforts
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
  • Capable of developing user guides, training materials, and facilitating sessions to enhance system adoption and data literacy
  • Demonstrated ability to identify challenges, propose solutions, and implement improvements that are scalable and sustainable
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and with diverse stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes
  • Commitment to data accuracy, consistency, and quality in all deliverables

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Entry-level to 2 years of experience or coursework specific to business analysis
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable business and financial models.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in business administration, computer information systems, management information systems, or other related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as an application administrator or business analyst.
  • Experience with SQL and reporting software (Cognos, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience in a higher education working environment.
  • Knowledge of tuition administration, financial forecasting, budgeting, and/or transactional oversight.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 10.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $65,500-$74,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
